  • Patent number: 10309222
Abstract: Some implementations of this invention relate to energy systems and more particularly to rotating componentry enabling shaft work, propulsion drive, electric power generation, jet propulsion and/or thermodynamic systems related to aerothermodynamic thrust and shaft power, waste heat recovered shaft power, ventilation, cooling, heat, pressure and/or vacuum generating devices. Some implementations pertain to the art of vane assemblies for eccentrically placed rotating partial admission compressors and expanders that may either be used together or in conjunction with other mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and/or pneumatic machineries. Some implementations further relate to fluid energy recovery mechanical devices, targeting the field of gas turbine engines, internal combustion engines, furnaces, rotary kilns, coolers and refrigeration rotary components and/or expansion nodes. Other implementations are described.

  • Patent number: 8579615
Abstract: A rotary compressor or expander include a cylindrical housing chamber, a rotatable cylindrical rotor mounted eccentrically with respect to housing chamber center, a cylindrical rotor liner free to move around the rotor, and a pivoting generally circular arc vane hinged to the rotor liner. Cavity or buckets engraved to the outer surface of the rotor liner together with corresponding inlet nozzle flow provide additional momentum impulse transfer from working fluid to expander eccentric rotor. The inlet of the rotary expander is equipped with a rotating valve synchronous to the eccentric rotor, regulating the admission time and duration of the entering working fluid. The exhaust of the rotary compressor is equipped with either a check valve or a rotating valve synchronizing the fluid discharge time and duration.

  • Patent number: 7314035
Abstract: A heat engine having a rotary vane compressor and a rotary vane turbine operates in a highly efficient thermodynamic cycle which includes a power expansion phase up to ambient pressure and a limited temperature constant volume combustion followed by a constant pressure combustion and/or a constant temperature combustion. A compound propulsion engine utilizing the thermodynamic cycle has a primary stage having an axial compressor and a rotary vane turbine, and a secondary stage having an axial turbine and a rotary vane compressor, the two stages being aero-thermodynamically coupled to each other without provision of an interconnecting drive shaft.
