    Abstract: A control system for serializing reference/update operations on shared data stored in a main storage between a plurality of tightly coupled multiprocessing units. Under multiprocessing with a mechanism for serialized use of shared resources by locking operations, the system allows any desired processing unit to be disabled at any desired time on condition that the processing of the entire multiprocessing be continued without interruption, whichever processing unit may be performing whatever processing.
