  • Patent number: 7530742
Abstract: The present invention provides a foil bearing (1), comprising: a stationary mount member (2) surrounding an outer circumferential surface of a journal (13) of a rotating member via an annular gap (G); and a plurality of centripetal force producing foils (e.g., middle foils 12) arranged in a circumferential direction in the annular gap, where each of the centripetal force producing foils has one end fixed to the stationary mount member, wherein portions of the stationary mount member located between fixed ends of adjoining ones of the centripetal force producing foils are formed with an axially extending slit (4).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 24, 2008
Date of Patent: May 12, 2009
    Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

  • Patent number: 7127930
Abstract: A pressing apparatus includes a lower die (24) fixed to a lower plate (11), and first and second plate (11), and first and second upper die punches (33 and 34) capable of being lifted and lowered along with an upper plate (12). The first upper die punch (33) supported by a spring (49) is capable of being lifted and lowered relative to the second upper die punch (34). The upper plate (12) is lifted and lowered, while intermittently feeding a band-shaped work (W) one pitch by one pitch from the right to the left along an upper surface of the lower die (24), thereby pressing the work (W) to form grooves in the work (W) continuously. When the groove is formed in the work (W) by pressing the work (W) by the second upper die punch (34), the groove formed at the last time by pressing the work (W) by the second upper die punch (34) is retained and positioned between the first upper die punch (33) and the lower die (24).

  • Patent number: 6998756
Abstract: The present invention provides a rotor shaft, comprising: a rod member (26); and a plurality of separately formed component parts (such as a compressor wheel 10, a turbine wheel 11 and a rotor 14 of an electric generator) through which the rod member extends so that the plurality of component parts are joined together on an axis of the rod member, wherein mutually facing axial end surfaces of adjoining ones of the plurality of component parts are formed with annular projections (22, 23) having a substantially same radial dimension (or thickness) such that an outer circumferential surface of the annular projection of one component part can tightly contact an inner circumferential surface of the annular projection of an adjoining component part.
