  • Publication number: 20010021246
Abstract: Terminal management information concerning a plurality of communication terminals of a user is managed. When a call addressed to the user is initiated, one or more terminals that can accept the call is identified by referring to an ability needed for a communication involved in the call and the terminal management information concerning the plurality of communication terminals managed by the step (a). Information involved in the call into items of information to be sent to the above one or more terminals identified by the step (b) and combining items of information from the above one or more terminals identified by the step (b) is separated into information to be sent to one of the plurality of communication terminals that initiates the call. A virtual terminal is formed by the above one or more terminals identified by the step (b) and communicates with the above one of the plurality of communication terminals.

  • Patent number: 6157837
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to reduce the control time required when a channel handover is performed in a mobile communication system. The conventional system has such shortcomings that a long time is required for re-designating a channel when a channel handover procedure results in failure. Particularly, in the common access type system, there is such a problem that since a channel handover is required to be performed several times during a channel handover procedure, an extra time is required for performing the handover procedure. The present invention has a plurality of base stations for covering the service area, and a mobile station for performing a communication with the base stations through radio channels.

  • Patent number: 6084966
Abstract: A transmitted signal is enciphered or concealed to thereby prevent interference, even when data indicative of the receiver terminal is made public because of the use of a common access channel. In the transmitter, in a random-number bit adder 6, a random-number .alpha. (digital signal) generated by a random-number generator 5 is inserted into a transmitting data signal DA generated by a transmitting data generator 1, and the resultant is outputted as a signal (DA, .alpha.). An encipherment processor 2 enciphers the signal (DA, .alpha.) and outputs it as a signal (DA, .alpha.)'. In the receiver, this signal (DA, .alpha.)' is deciphered into (DA, .alpha.), and the random-bits .varies. are removed from (DA, .alpha.) to restore the signal DA.

  • Patent number: 6031839
Abstract: A data communication system in which a data communication address for a communication terminal can arbitrarily be changed whenever the communication terminal is used. This data communication system includes a database 60 for storing a corresponding relation between an identifier 41 of a communication terminal 40 and a plurality of data communication addresses used for the communication. The database 60 stores a corresponding relation between the identifier 41 of the communication terminal and the data communication addresses during a period of use thereof in accordance with instructions from the communication terminal 40. When incoming data is received that is directed to certain data communication address, a network switching device 50 obtains an identifier corresponding to the certain data communication address and transmits the data to the communication terminal with the identifier.

  • Patent number: 6021516
Abstract: In a communication system having a transmission station which transmits the data signal and a receiving station which receives the data signal, the transmission station consists of an adding means for adding an error detecting code showing a position of a transmission error, which occurs on said data signal, in said data signal to said data signal and a retransmission means for retransmission of a part in said data signal when said receiving station requests the retransmission of the part in said data signal. The receiving station consists of a judgment means for judging a position of the transmission error in said data signal on the basis of the error detecting code which is added by the adding means and a request means for requesting the retransmission of the part containing the transmission error in the data signal on the basis of the position of the transmission error.

  • Patent number: 5974044
Abstract: This invention appropriately regulates or controls a simultaneous communication between different communication methods. When a request of a voice communication is made with respect to a communication terminal 4 which is currently busy with a packet communication from a communication terminal 1, a voice incoming signal is generated at a voice line controller 20. Then, a communication terminal state request is output from the voice line controller 20. This is transmitted to a data base 30 through a data exchange device 21. Then, the data base 30 reads voice line memory AB, packet line memory PB and transmits the same as a communication terminal state response to the voice line controller 20 through the data exchange device 21. As a consequence, the voice line controller 20 can know the communication state of the communication terminal 4 and determines whether or not the voice communication circuit should be connected based on it.

  • Patent number: 5867779
Abstract: The communication terminal (102) is provided with a notice unit (204) for recognizing a state of use of itself and states of use of the data terminals (103.sub.1) through (103.sub.n) and notifying a result of the recognition to the network side, whereas the network system (101) is provided with a storage unit (303) for registering a communication terminal in which the communication terminal (102) and at least one of the data terminal (103.sub.1) through (103.sub.n) became usable and deleting the registration of the communication terminal (102) or a communication terminal in which the data terminals (103.sub.1) through (103.sub.n) became unusable, in accordance with a result of the notice made by the notice unit (204), so that a receiving possible state of the communication terminal (102) is preliminarily registered on the side of the network system (101). Moreover, the receiving standby state is discriminated between a voice-only standby state and a voice and packet simultaneous standby state.

  • Patent number: 5742909
Abstract: A mobile communication fixed station 101 transmits significant data to a mobile station 103 (104) after holding the significant data for a predetermined time, and no significant data are transmitted to the mobile station during that time. When there are no significant data which are being held, the fixed station 101 transmits remaining time data indicative of the predetermined time to the mobile station, and no significant data are transmitted to the mobile station. When significant data is being held, time data indicative of the remaining time until the start of transmission of the significant data is transmitted to the mobile station in each slot from the time significant data occurs until the time the significant data is transmitted. The fixed station 103 , which has received the remaining time data stops receiving for a time interval corresponding to the remaining time.

  • Patent number: 5721742
Abstract: A transmittal signal is transmitted in a forward error correction format in case the length of the transmittal signal satisfies predetermined conditions but not in a forward error correction format in case the length of the transmittal signal does not satisfy the predetermined conditions. Owing to this arrangement, a long signal susceptible to errors, can be encoded in a forward error correction format. For transmitting a short transmittal signal, wasteful consumption of transmission data capacity of a radio channel can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5689503
Abstract: When data is transferred by using a plurality of time slots, the transferring period is shortened by adopting priority to assign the required number of slots. The base station BS which accepted packet P1 generates a "BUSY" signal and an echo at the final portion of the first time slot TS which begins at time t4. The base station BS, recognizing that there is a packet following the packet P1, generates a "RESERVED" signal at the final portion of the time slot TS which begins at time t5. The mobile station MS-A learns that the first time slot is assigned by recognizing the "BUSY" signal and the echo, and that the second time slot is also assigned by recognizing the "RESERVED" signal. Therefore, the first and second time slots are used successively for fast transferring.
