  • Publication number: 20040086778
Abstract: An exhaust structure is provided on an upper part of a storage battery. In the structure, an exhaust chamber is formed with an inlet, through which gas generated from a cell chamber of the storage battery is introduced, a first outlet, arranged in an upper portion of the exhaust chamber and through which the gas is exhausted to an exterior of the storage battery, a second outlet, arranged in a bottom portion of the exhaust chamber and communicated with the cell chamber, side walls and a bottom wall defining the exhaust chamber. The bottom wall is slanted toward the second outlet. A plurality of plate members, which intercepts liquid contained in the gas. Each of the plate members is extended from one of the side walls such that a distal end portion faces another one of the side walls while defining a gap therebetween, and is slanted toward the second outlet so that the intercepted liquid is guided to the second outlet and returned to the cell chamber.

  • Publication number: 20020114994
Abstract: In a terminal structure wherein the led-out plate portion of a plate terminal one end plate portion of which is connected to an electrode pole jutting out of the cover of a storage battery is fixed onto the top face of the cover, when external lead wire is clamped to the plate terminal by a bolt and a nut, the plate terminal is liable to incline, turn, twist, deform or float due to a large clamping torque. A terminal structure of a storage battery as prevents such drawbacks from occurring and as is stable and stout against the clamping torque, is provided.

  • Patent number: 4986317
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of producing a paste-type electrode for a lead storage battery which comprises packing into an active material support a paste prepared by kneading a lead oxide having a conversion ratio to red lead (Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4) of 90% or less or a mixture of this lead oxide powder with water and sulfuric acid as the principal components. Because this lead oxide contains red lead less than 90%, red lead formed on the surface of this oxide and lead oxide (PbO) formed in the particle core are directly bonded. This enhances the bonding power between the active materials. The paste-type electrode prepared by this method provides high adhesion of the paste to the active material support and high bonding power between the active materials. Therefore, both improvements in life and in efficiency of formation charge can be attained.

  • Patent number: 4724190
Abstract: A storage battery including a container and a cover. The container is partitioned into a plurality of cell chambers by a plurality of partition walls. Each cell chamber has a cell therein which is composed of positive and negative plates. The negative and positive plates are connected by negative and positive straps, respectively. An intercell connecting conductor connects negative and positive straps from adjacent cells through an opening in the partition wall. Each intercell connecting conductor includes a horizontal base attached to one of the straps, and an ear which extends obliquely upwardly from the base to the opening in the partition wall. The opening in the partition wall and the ear are laterally offset from the base so that they are vertically unaligned with the base.

  • Patent number: 4271245
Abstract: A grid base plate and its method of manufacture comprising intermittently conveying a thin elongated metallic sheet longitudinally in one direction through successive first, second and third stations, the sheet being stopped in each of the stations between successive conveying steps. In the first station, the sheet is bent to form a peripheral upwardly projecting portion in a frame region surrounding an inner grid region. In the second station, a plurality of openings are punched in the grid region and in the third station, the sheet is punched along an outer peripheral edge surface to separate the base plate from the sheet. The upwardly projecting portion forms a space with the grid region which is filled with an active material of a thickness determined by the height of the upwardly projecting portion. The upwardly projecting portion has an outer bend region with an end surface constituting a peripheral edge of the frame which faces laterally outwards and is disposed vertically.
