The real part of the complex index of refraction of the recording layer with respect to the replay light beam is not less than 2.55, while the absolute value of the imaginary part of the complex index of refraction of the recording layer with respect to the recording light beam is not less than 1.0. The organic dye may be enumerated by a cyanine compound and a porphyrin compound. If the porphyrin compound is used, blue-hued laser recording becomes possible.

Therefore, the recording and reproducing apparatus that can record and reproduce the medium having the reflecting layer whose reflectivity is low can be made small in size and light in weight.

    Abstract: In a cordless key telephone system where adjacent service zones having the same control channel are overlapped, forming an unavoidable interference-affected overlapping zone, a main unit initially selects an access unit from each service zone in response to an incoming call from a network and transmits a first alert signal to that unit where it is broadcast to elicit an acknowledgement (ACK) signal from cordless stations. On receiving it, the access unit selects a speech channel, broadcasts a first channel assignment signal on the control channel, and then a first ringing signal on the selected speech channel. The main unit determines whether there is a cordless station falling to respond to the first alert signal. If such a station exists, the main unit selects a first, idle access unit which is located in one of the adjacent service zones. A second alert signal is then broadcast on a control channel from the first access unit.

In the first case where the former level is "0" and the latter level is "1", "0" (or "1") is outputted as the (K+1)-th, (K+2)-th, . . . order output signals and supplied to the judgement circuit. In the cases other than the first case, the inputted (K+1)-th digit input code signal is outputted as it is as the (K+1)-th order output signal and supplied to the judgement circuit. The judgement circuit performs a logical OR (or NAND) operation for each order and the results are outputted as judgement result signals.
