  • Publication number: 20230001043
Abstract: A liquid embolic composition of natural polymers, water, and angiographic contrast agents improves neurovascular interventions, making them more reliable, safe, and affordable. The embolic material is made of a single component activated by blood calcium ion, which triggers coagulation, and that offers superior mechanical stability and does not cause fragmentation in the target vessel. The material retains superior long-term mechanical durability after deployment and provides sufficient visualization under fluoroscopy with iodine-based angiographic contrast compounds or other radiopaque compositions. Described herein are aqueous solutions that enable a high concentration gellan gum (greater than 0.5 wt %) to retain sol state even at the range of body temperature (30-40° C.). This discovery means that it is possible to increase the concentration of gellan gum without losing its inject-ability, yet significantly improve its mechanical stability after delivery.

  • Patent number: 11123453
Abstract: Provided is a liquid embolic agent composition capable of solving problems of conventional embolic agents, which can be used in a treatment of a vascular disease such as cerebral aneurysm. The problems are solved by a liquid embolic agent composition characterized in containing a hydrogel forming component having a calcium ion entrapping ability, and an anti-biodegradation component. The hydrogel forming component having a calcium ion entrapping ability is at least one kind of acidic polysaccharide selected from the group consisting of alginate, gellan gum, carrageenan, and carboxymethyl cellulose salt; and the anti-biodegradation component is at least one kind selected from the group consisting of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, methylcellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyallylamine, poly-N-vinyl acetamide, and cellulose acetate.

  • Patent number: 9950341
Abstract: Systems and methods for coating of spiral intracranial aneurysm coils, e.g., a Guglielmi Detachable Coil (GDC), such that only selected surfaces along the spiral coil are coated with a polymer via an atomized polymer deposition process. The resulting device is a detachable aneurysm coil system which preserves the mechanical geometry and flexibility of the coil, and delivers specific agents to promote wound healing.

  • Patent number: 9763812
Abstract: A coaxial stent system is described in which an inner treatment stent is configured to be coaxially positioned inside an outer anchoring stent. The outer anchoring stent is adapted for insertion into a blood vessel and anchoring to the blood vessel at a position where the outer anchoring stent spans a neck of an aneurysm. A method for endovascular treatment of aneurysms is also described.
