    Abstract: The present invention provides a coated base fabric for airbags including: a cloth obtained by weaving polyamide (PA) fiber yarns; and a PA elastomer coating film formed on one surface or both surfaces of the cloth, wherein the coated base fabric has predetermined air tightness and flexibility, is easily converted to a PA reproduced material, and is obtained by fusing a coating film (16) made of an airflow suppression PA elastomer on one surface or both surfaces of a cloth (14) obtained by weaving yarns (12) and (12A) made of a polyamide (PA) fiber, as the PA elastomer, soft PA is normally used, which has a melting point (measured by the standard of ASTM D3418) of 135 to 200° C., a difference between the melting points of the PA fiber and PA elastomer being 80 to 120° C.

    Abstract: The airbag apparatus is provided with a retainer that includes a hold-down portion for attachment of a periphery of a gas inlet of an airbag to the case, a cover wall surrounding an inflator body, deflectors and catches. The cover wall includes a plurality of outlet ports for releasing inflation gas exited discharge ports of the inflator body radially. The deflectors deflect the inflation gas exited the outlet ports in a range of angle from a direction orthogonal to an axis of the inflator body to a downward direction extending toward the hold-down portion. The catches capture residual particles contained in the inflation gas when the gas deflected by the deflectors hit them.

The wheel body is divided into a shaft side division joined to the steering shaft, and a ring side division disposed proximate the ring. The ring side division is rotatable with respect to the shaft side division such that a ring plane is aligned generally vertically. The boss includes an actuator that rotates and moves the ring side division to align the ring plane generally vertically. The actuator completes its operation to align the ring plane generally vertically by the time a driver contacts the inflated airbag in the course of forward motion.

Arcuate, gradual shape-changing portions 23, 24 are formed at the boundary edge portions between the base portion 16 and the hinge portions 17A, 17B and at boundary edge portions between the opening portions 18A, 18B and the hinge portions 17A, 17B, respectively to distribute stresses and minimize breakage.

This arrangement allows the operator to operate the horn smoothly.
