Abstract: A method for presenting analytical data includes the steps of a computer system receiving data for a user, the data including a plurality of data portions that are each associated with a corresponding provider of a plurality of providers. Each data portion includes one or both of: health of the user or fitness of the user. The computer system aggregates the plurality of data portions to form aggregate data. The computer system receives a request from the user for analysis of the aggregate data by an analysis package of a first provider of the plurality of providers. The computer system shares the aggregate data with the first provider, including sharing aggregate data that is based on a data portion that corresponds with a second provider of the plurality of providers, and the computer system presenting analytical data to the user.

Abstract: An embodiment of an exercise system includes an exercise monitoring device that gathers data regarding an outdoor exercise routine. Additionally, a remote communication system communicatively connectable to the exercise monitoring device is receptive to the data regarding the outdoor exercise routine such that the remote communication system generates an exercise program based on the data regarding the outdoor exercise routine. Furthermore, an exercise device that is communicatively connectable to the remote communication system may receive the exercise program and simulate one or more aspects of the outdoor exercise routine.

The remote communication system is receptive to the data regarding the outdoor exercise routine and generates an exercise program based on the data regarding the outdoor exercise routine. The exercise device is receptive to the exercise program, and the exercise program causes the exercise device to simulate one or more aspects of the outdoor exercise routine.

Abstract: An exercise machine includes a support structure, a crank shaft rotatably mounted on the support structure, a first planetary gear set operatively coupled to the crank shaft so that the crank shaft provides an input for the first planetary gear set, a second planetary gear set operatively coupled to the first planetary gear set so that an output of the first planetary gear set provides an input for the second planetary gear set, and a flywheel rotatably operatively coupled to the second planetary gear set so that an output of the second planetary gear set rotates the flywheel.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method to generate a customized workout routine based on a physical fitness goal of a user is described. Data relating to an exercise apparatus is retrieved. Profile information for a user of the exercise apparatus is analyzed. A customized workout routine is generated for the user to implement with the exercise apparatus. The routine is based on the analyzed profile information of the user and the retrieved data relating to the exercise apparatus.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method to provide a physical activity challenge with an accompanying reward for completing the challenge is provided. Data describing the challenge relating to at least one physical activity is received. Data describing at least one reward for completing the challenge is received. Progress of the challenge is tracked. The tracked progress is analyzed to determine whether the challenge is completed. Upon determining the challenge is completed, the reward is delivered.

Abstract: In general, the present invention relates to exercise devices. In particular the present invention relates to exercise devices having a selectively adjustable console. The console of an exercise device may selectively adjust in a number of different ways according to the present invention. For example, the height of a console relative to a portion of the exercise device frame may selectively adjust up or down. Alternatively, the tilt of the console, or a portion of the console such as the display screen, may selectively adjust relative to a portion of the exercise device frame. For example, the angular orientation of a console or a display screen relative to a portion of the exercise device frame.

Abstract: In general, the present invention relates to exercise devices and systems that can receive and run workout programs that include control command subsets that control the moveable members of a plurality of different exercise devices. Exercise devices of the present invention are able to ignore the control command subset(s) that do not control their moveable member(s) and recognize the control command subset(s) that control their moveable member(s). Exercise devices of the present invention are further able to, if necessary, perform a sizing restriction to the relevant control command subset(s). Motivational content may also be modified in connection with or independently from a sizing restriction made to the control commands. The present invention also relates to a method for controlling one or more exercise device with a workout file that includes control command subsets that control the moveable members of a plurality of different exercise devices.

Abstract: In general, the present invention relates to exercise devices that lack, in whole or in part, a console. For example, an exercise device of the present invention may lack display screens and/or user input controls that selectively adjust an operating parameter of the exercise device. A console interface, or the portions of a console interface that are absent from an exercise device of the present invention may be provided by an external computing device that is communicatively connected to the exercise device. The external computing device may be individually and selectively connected to multiple exercise devices to as to provide a display screen and user input controls to a number of different exercise devices.

Abstract: Wireless control commands adjust one or more operating parameters of an exercise device while a user is exercising. A control ring or a handle of the exercise device includes user input mechanisms and a wireless transmitter. The user input mechanisms may be selectively activated by the exerciser. Upon activation of the user input mechanisms, the wireless transmitter wirelessly communicates a control command to a resistance mechanism in order to adjust the resistance level of the resistance mechanism.

Abstract: In general, the methods and exercise systems disclosed herein help to ensure a more fair competition in a race between two or more individuals or a race between a single individual and a previous performance by that individual. A competition equalization device, which may be worn on any part of a body of an individual competing in a race, can receive data concerning one or more conditions that may affect the performance of an individual in a competition. This data may be sent to a processing unit, which may analyze the data from two or more competition equalization devices and determine whether a competitive advantage or disadvantage exists for any participant in the competition. If a competitive advantage or disadvantage is found, the processing unit may determine an appropriate remedy.

Abstract: An exercise device includes a first frame, a second frame that is pivotally connected to the first frame and movable relative to the first frame between a storage position and an operating position, and a latching mechanism that selectively holds the second frame in the storage position. The latching mechanism includes a seat having a seat engagement surface, a seat engagement member selectively positioned on the seat engagement surface to hold the second frame in the storage position, and a lever that selectively rotates the seat engagement member off of the seat to allow the second frame to move from the storage position to the operating position.

Abstract: Incline mechanisms are provided for adjusting an incline of an inclinable portion of an exercise device. The incline mechanism may include one or more racks disposed on a frame, such as a generally upright support structure of a treadmill. One or more pinions may be movably connected to the inclinable portion of the exercise device, such as a treadbase of a treadmill, and may engage the one or more racks. An incline motor may rotate the pinions, which causes the pinions to ride up or down the racks. As the pinions rides up or down the racks or linear gear bars, the incline of the inclinable portion of the exercise device is increased or decreased. The pinions may rotate between various positions on the racks which correspond to various inclines and declines, including fully inclined, fully declined, and neutral positions.

Abstract: Exercise systems and methods are provided that create and run exercise programs that are custom tailored to individual users. An exercise program for a specific user is based upon the user's average work heart rate and recovery heart rate. The exercise programs may include a series of workouts for the user to perform. Each workout requires the user to exercise at various intensity levels so that the user's heart rate moves between different predetermined target heart rate zones. The target heart rate zones are calculated from data relating to the user's average work heart rate and recovery heart rate. As the user's fitness level changes, the user's average work heart rate and recovery heart rate also change. Creation of new exercise programs uses the most current heart rate data to calculate the target heart rate zones, thereby continuously tailoring the exercise programs to the user.
