  • Patent number: 7619967
Abstract: A method for protecting Ethernet data packets transmitted over SDH/SONET traffic in a ring-like optical network formed by a number of nodes, the method includes utilizing MS-SPRING/BLSR system for SDH/SONET traffic protection and, in case of one or more network failures that result in at least one isolated node in the network, the method comprises preventing initiation of a squelching algorithm of the MS-SPRING/BLSR system with respect to the SDH/SONET virtual containers carrying the data Ethernet packets, while ensuring that the standardized use of byte J1 is prevented with respect to the same SDH/SONET virtual containers carrying the Ethernet packets.

  • Patent number: 7551571
Abstract: A method for utilizing a Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) in an Ethernet network wherein a number of VLANs are defined and a plurality of Ethernet switching nodes (A, B, C D E, F,G H) are interconnected via their ports (A1, . . . ,H4) so that each of the ports is initially assigned to one or more VLANs, and each of the VLANs is intended to enable traffic between two or more edge ports (D3, B3). The method comprises a so-called pruning procedure initiated upon establishing a new STP topology (30) related to one or more VLANs. This procedure concerns a broadcast domain of at least one of the VLANs and is aimed at obtaining a sub-tree for each pruned VLAN in the new STP topology. The sub-tree is usually shrunk, bound by the edge ports assigned to the corresponding pruned VLAN, and thus eliminates broadcast traffic of the pruned VLAN to any Ethernet switch extending beyond the obtained sub-tree.

  • Patent number: 7388827
Abstract: A method for high speed dissemination of information about faults in spans that interconnect nodes in a telecommunication mesh-type network, the method comprises creating a Failure Updating channel (FU channel) in the network and circulating Failure updating messages (FU messages) via the FU channel between the network nodes, wherein each of the FU messages issued by a particular node is disseminated to its adjacent node(s) and carries information about all spans in the network currently available to the particular node, by presenting status indications of the spans in respective information slots of the FU message.

  • Patent number: 7289435
Abstract: A method and a Network Element (NE) for manifesting alarms by forming a so called combined Data Quality Byte (DQB) for a particular SDH/SONET data transmission stream. The DQB indicates status of alarms at a particular location of the telecommunication network, via which the stream is transmitted. The DQB can be formed by arranging a plurality of alarm signals, currently actual for the particular data transmission stream, in a predetermined byte associated with the stream frame. The NE, upon receiving from an upstream network element a data transmission stream with its DQB1 formed upstream, creates an updated DQB2 and compares DQB1 with DQB2 to manifest an alarm status change ?DQB for estimating quality of transmission via the network section.

  • Patent number: 7199920
Abstract: The invention describes a two-stage optical amplifier adapted for inserting OADM in the mid-stage, and an integrated assembly designed for implementing the amplifier in a way suitable for forming unidirectional and bi-directional configurations useful in optical networks. One of them is a so-called east-west configuration for a bi-directional transmission, where each direction of the optical transmission is served by the two-stage optical amplifier the 1st stage of which belongs to one integrated assembly, and the 2nd stage—to another assembly.

  • Patent number: 7023848
Abstract: A method and a system for errorless switching, in a telecommunication network, from a basic data stream to a copy of the basic data stream obtained by bridging of the basic data stream at a first network node, being characterized in that the switching is performed at a second network node receiving both the basic data stream and the copy data stream, upon performing an operation of delay equalization between the basic data stream and the copy data stream.

  • Patent number: 6996125
Abstract: A method for enabling provision of service-levels in an Ethernet-over-synchronous communication network, by: receiving Ethernet frames at an input rate; mapping the Ethernet frames into a synchronous protocol; generating a pause signal after a received amount of Ethernet frames reaches or exceeds a threshold capacity level, the pause signal being generated in accordance with a service-level agreement (SLA) determining an output rate based upon an aggregate rate enabled by K memory containers out of N available memory containers, where K and N are integers; and outputting the mapped data frames from the K memory containers thereby providing synchronous transmissions at the output rate.
