    Abstract: Disclosed is a residual signal inter-channel intra prediction encoding method between a residual signal of a luminance component of an image and a residual signal of a chrominance component thereof. It is possible to improve an intra prediction encoding performance when the inter-channel prediction is performed between residual signal of the luminance component and the chrominance component of HEVC, and derive a prediction coefficient for linear prediction at a high speed while the quadtree block structure of the HEVC is not changed. In addition, it is advantageous to avoid degradation in inter-channel prediction performance, which is caused when quadtree block structures of prediction units (PUs) of the luminance component and the chrominance component are different.

In addition, an off signal of low level is applied to the input terminal, and an output of the control signal generating unit is changed to a low level in a reversal order whenever a clock is applied to the clock signal input terminal by one period, so that outputs of the multiple powers are interrupted in the reversal order.

According to the apparatus and method, the size of a prediction apparatus is reduced, and one apparatus is used both in coding and decoding.

    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for performing mixed motion estimation based on a hierarchical search are provided. In the method, motion vectors of previous image data are received. The median value of the motion vectors is obtained. Current image data is received. Motion of the current image data is compensated for based on the median value of the motion vectors. SAD values of the previous image data are received and the maximum value of the SAD values is obtained. The motion compensation result is compared with the maximum value of the SAD values. Motion estimation of the current image data is skipped and the motion compensation result is output if the motion compensation result is smaller than the maximum value of the SAD values. Motion estimation for the current image data is performed if the motion compensation result is greater than or equal to the maximum value of the SAD values, and the motion estimation result is output.
