  • Patent number: 6161595
Abstract: A movable brake shoe (32) is mounted in a yarn brake (23). The yarn brake (33) includes two brake shoes (31, 32) arranged to brake a yarn (3) running between them. Actuating devices (33, 34) allow mutual compression of the brake shoes (31, 32). The movable brake shoe (32) is lamellar and tiltable about a tilt axis (49) which is located at a distance from and substantially parallel to the path of the yarn (3) to be braked.

  • Patent number: 6068028
Abstract: In a method of scanning, with the aid of a sensor device, a yarn of a predetermined length which is intermittently withdrawn from a winding reservoir provided on the storage drum of a yarn feeding device for weaving machines, the yarn pulse acceptance for exclusively at least one first yarn pulse is changed at an increasing yarn speed and/or upon generation of at least one first or each winding signal to a yarn pulse acceptance for further faster yarn pulses and non-acceptance of interference pulses that are slower than the second yarn pulses. A yarn withdrawal sensor which is suited for said method is characterized in that a filtering device is provided with two different selective filtering modes that differ from each other by their acceptance of yarn pulses generated at different yarn withdrawal speeds, and that the filtering device is switchable at an increasing yarn withdrawal speed from a first filtering mode to at least one further filtering mode.

  • Patent number: 5544680
Abstract: A weft brake for an airjet loom includes a controlled drive for causing at least one thread guide to deflect the weft and thereby brake it, and a transmission which permits relative motion between the drive and the thread guide. The transmission is placed between the controlled drive and the thread guide to permit relative motion between the drive and the thread guide. As a result, rapid drive motion will not directly cause a rapid thread guide motion, resulting in a reduction in tension spikes during braking. Because the motion of the thread guide depends on the weft tension, when the weft tension is high, the amount of the deflection and consequent braking is less and the increase in weft tension caused by the braking is in turn limited. Moreover, even in the event of slackening of the weft tension, the weft still is kept tension. The drive may be in the form of a rotary drive and the transmission may be in the form of a helical spring.

  • Patent number: 5226459
Abstract: A thread brake includes a plurality of fixed thread guide elements, at least two movable thread guide elements mounted on a rotatable body which, through rotation, can be brought in opposite directions to cross a path of a thread being guided by the fixed thread guide elements and thereby engage the thread such that the thread is bent in two places, thereby braking the thread. Rotation of the movable thread guide elements may be restricted during braking by taps appropriately positioned.
