  • Patent number: 4341293
Abstract: A torque-applying coupling comprising a housing having members at its opposite ends for receiving a handle element and a tool element. Means is provided for operatively connecting said receiving members and comprises a double-spring clutch in the housing and a tool drive-shank disposed within the clutch for axial and rotative movement, along with a plurality of axially-aligned connecting and drive sleeves disposed within said spring clutch. The shank carries a drive portion which is axially movable with the shank into selective engagement with the sleeves to drive the shank in the desired direction.

  • Patent number: 4341292
Abstract: A tool handle assembly embodying an axially-extending torque-applying tool shank disposed for axial and rotative movement in a double-spring clutch in a handgrip. The clutch consists of two axially-aligned springs disposed in opposite ends of a chamber formed in the handgrip.

  • Patent number: 4235133
Abstract: A coupling used between a handle and a tool having outwardly-opening tool-receiving sockets at its opposed ends for selectively receiving a tool shank and a separate intermediate torque-applying sleeve having outwardly-opening sockets at its opposed ends for selectively receiving a driving handle shank after it is passed through the cooperative tool socket. A pair of reversely-wound springs surround the sleeve and when the handle shank is in one end socket of the sleeve and is turned in one direction, it will drive the tool socket at the other end, but the handle shank and socket can be freely turned in a reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4210185
Abstract: A tool handle assembly including a hand grip to be engaged by one hand, having a freely-reversible socket member carried thereby which has a socket for non-rotatably and removably receiving a tool adapter, the tool adapter having a socket for non-rotatably and removably receiving a tool element, and a finger grip or spinner for engaging by the fingers of the other hand, non-rotatably fixed on the adapter. The socket member is mounted in the hand grip by means of a one-way driving spring clutch. All the parts of the assembly are so arranged that the spinner does not contact the adjacent end of the hand grip so that these members are always free to rotate relatively, to permit free reversal of the hand grip.

  • Patent number: 4143693
Abstract: A hand tool, such as a screw driver, with a handle connected to the tool element thereof so that when the handle is turned in one direction, there is a positive driving action but when it is turned in a reverse direction, the handle is free to rotate relative to the tool element. The connection is made by means of a coil spring mounted on a driver shaft member and a driven shaft member, which are connected non-rotatably to the respective handle and tool element.

  • Patent number: 3982557
Abstract: A fluid flow control valve for automatic fluid level control in a reservoir is provided having a valve chamber with axially aligned inlet and outlet orifices, a valve closure element disposed in the chamber and having an actuating stem projecting outwardly through the outlet orifice, and a float-type lever arm engageable with the actuating stem. The valve closure element is normally maintained in closing relationship to the outlet orifice by the pressurized fluid at the inlet side with the valve designed for operation over a wide range of fluid pressures. Movement of the lever arm in response to the fluid level is effective in rocking the valve closure element through its actuating stem to a position where fluid may flow through the outlet orifice. The lever arm is provided with a weighted float to assure positive operation of the valve in high pressure fluid systems and the lever arm is formed with means readily permitting adjustment thereof to precisely determine the fluid level in the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 3959828
Abstract: A valve assembly for the control of discharge through the flush-water outlet of a tank for toilets or of other liquid storage tanks. It includes a flexible ball and float combination pivotably supported on the overflow tube in the tank for vertical swinging movement and so as to occupy a minimum amount of the limited space in the tank. In addition, it includes counterweight means in the form of a pair of water containers mounted on opposite sides of the pivoted support which fill with water from the tube so that when the valve support is swung into upper opening position, they will hold the support in that position with the valve unseated, to permit discharge of substantially all the water from the tank, but are provided with small metering discharge openings which gradually drain the containers until the weight of the valve and associated parts will cause it to drop into closed sealing position relative to the outlet.
