  • Publication number: 20090181196
Abstract: Described as one aspect of the invention are extrusion blow molded articles comprising at least one polyester which comprises: (a) a dicarboxylic acid component comprising: (i) about 90 to about 100 mole % of terephthalic acid residues; (ii) about 0 to about 10 mole % of aromatic and/or aliphatic dicarboxylic acid residues having up to 20 carbon atoms; and (b) a glycol component comprising: (i) about 42 to about 60 mole % ethylene glycol residues; and (ii) about 40 to about 58 mole % residues of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol; wherein the total mole % of the dicarboxylic acid component is 100 mole %, and wherein the total mole % of the glycol component is 100 mole %; and wherein the inherent viscosity of the polyester is from 0.50 to 1.0 dL/g as determined in 60/40 (wt/wt) phenol/tetrachloroethane at a concentration of 0.25 g/50 ml at 25° C.

  • Publication number: 20090124019
Abstract: The present invention relates to the quantification of organic compounds originating from a chromatography system that does not involve the use of patterns, comprising the continuous conversion of the carbon of the compounds into carbon dioxide (CO2) involving a chemical reaction and the mixing of same, before or after separation, with a known, constant flow of a carbon compound, preferably CO2, with carbon isotope-13 (13C). The mixture is introduced into a mass spectrometer in which the isotopic ratio 12C/13C is continuously measured either in the carbon or in a characteristic ion originating from same. The isotope ratio is converted into a carbon mass flow measurement using on-line isotope dilution.

  • Publication number: 20090107848
Abstract: This invention refers to a procedure for anodising aluminium or aluminium alloys in which an aluminium or an aluminium alloy part is submerged an in an aqueous solution at a temperature between 0° C. and 140° C., preferably between 0° C. and 130° C., in which said solution includes: sulphuric acid, tartaric acid, and at least one inorganic salt of an element selected between at least one transition metal, a lanthanide element, an actinide, and combinations of them, and applying a controlled potential difference, obtaining layers of aluminium oxide with properties as good as or even better than those obtained through anodising in traditional chromic acid solutions.
