Abstract: In a passenger seat arrangement a passenger seat with backrest is arranged movably on a support structure including two side support bases and a mounting beam structure extending across the support bases and having spaced box frame members including T-shaped grooves, the seat is mounted on bearing structures disposed in the grooves of the box frame members thereby providing for the movability of the seat relative to an adjacent seat mounted on the same support structure for adjustability of the seat spacing without obstruction of the leg room underneath the seats.

Abstract: In a double passenger seat support arrangement for use in land, water or air transports which comprises a seat support frame with spaced support legs interconnected by a support beam structure having spaced sets of box spar and mounting track structures, each such set has at least two mounting track structures arranged side-by-side and firmly connected to, or integral with, the associated box spar structure with one of the mounting track structures defining a downwardly open channel for mounting the support beam structure onto the legs and the other having an upwardly open channel for mounting the seats onto the support beam structure.

Abstract: In a passenger seat for people movers such as trains, buses, ships and airplanes wherein a backrest with a circumferential frame extends upwardly from the seat's seating structure and has a back support mounted thereon, the back support has an opening formed therein just above the seating structure at about knee level for a passenger seated behind and a band structure adapted to yield to a predetermined limit when subjected to a knee impact by a passenger thrown forward onto the backrest ahead extends between the side members of the frame so as to permit forward movement of the knees into the opening in the backrest.

Abstract: In a seat support arrangement for passenger vehicles wherein a number of seats with backrests are mounted on a seat support structure including a transverse frame supported by legs and consisting of two spaced struts and for each seat a support frame mounted on the struts, the struts are flat tubular profile spars having two partial box spar sections and two C-shaped track sections arranged in opposite corner areas and in such a manner that the C-shaped track sections are open in opposite directions and each slidably receives slot bolts for engagement with the seat legs beneath and, respectively, the support frames above.

Abstract: A passenger seat constructed of rectangular tube sections, which is stiffened by a beam disposed at the intersection of the seat backs with the seat, which beam consists of a rear frame piece connected to the rear frame structure and having upwardly pointing joint supports, which in turn are firmly located by stiffening rods. The lower ends of the seat back side frame members are reinforced by stiffening members mounted to their front side and at the same time forming lugs for pivotally supporting the seat backs on the joint supports, so as to provide for lowest possible weight together with the necessary strength.

Abstract: In a folding wheelchair for the handicapped which includes a seat mounted on a lower frame provided with casters, the seat is supported on a pair of hinged rear struts which are lockable in an upright position and a pair of front links which are hinged to the front edge of the seat and pivotally connected to the lower frame at an intermediate location essentially along an axis extending laterally below the center of the seat.

Abstract: A passenger seat with seating and backrest sections has an armrest pivotally supported on armrest support means by a bearing including an elastomeric ring structure disposed in wedge-shaped grooves formed opposite one another in the joint of the armrest and the armrest support means. The armrest and armrest support means are held in engagement by a bolt extending through a relatively large opening in one and screwed into the other of the armrest and the armrest support means and the elastomeric ring structure is axially wedged into the grooves to provide firm radial bearing support which prevents contact between the bolt and the walls of the opening so as to prevent rattling.

Abstract: A passenger seat structure for installation in vehicles such as buses, railroad cars, boats and airplanes consists of a support frame provided with support legs. The frame includes two beams having top and bottom channels with seat and leg mounting means slidably disposed therein. The seat includes seating and backrest support plates mounted at their edges to support tubes and carrying upholstery members.With this arrangement the legs and the seats, which are light in weight, can be positioned at any point along the support beams.

Abstract: A slide track structure for supporting a passenger seat consists of a U-shaped track disposed completely within a square tube supported on the track by balls arranged in the U-track between waved guide strips mounted opposite each other on the track and the square tube and forming a channel receiving the balls. At least one of the guide strips is resiliently supported to bias the square tube so as to cause engagement of the flat adjacent surfaces of the U-track and the square tube when no load is carried by the track. The track is mounted on support bases projecting through slots in the square tube to permit movement of the square tube relative to the U-track.

Abstract: A seat comprising seating and backrest members mounted on a seat support structure.The seating and backrest members are molded plastic foam members lined with an upholstery material and including reinforcement and mounting frames which are foamed into the molded plastic members such that they are integral therewith. The support structure has mounting clips projecting into openings in the molded plastic members and engaging the reinforcement and mounting frames therein.With this arrangement the molded plastic members can be easily exchanged without the use of tools but they are, nevertheless, firmly held in position.

Abstract: A vehicle passenger seat which includes a seat member and a backrest member has pivotal armrest associated with the seat member. The seat member has side portion provided at their rear ends with upstanding armrest carriers having at their upper ends crank portions which project forwardly a distance corresponding to the thickness of the armrests. The armrests are pivotally supported on the forwardly projecting crank portions such that they can be pivoted fully upwardly or fully downwardly into positions in which they are disposed adjacent the backrest. The armrests include latching mechanisms for locking the armrests in predetermined use positions.

Abstract: A vehicle seat support includes a support tube mounted in the vehicle body for supporting the vehicle seats. The support tube is trapezoidal in cross-section and arranged with the wider of its parallel sides on top, facing the seats. The seats are mounted on support shackles having trapezoidal cut-outs corresponding to, and receiving, the tubular support member but being of somewhat greater height to provide some clearance. A thumbscrew is mounted in the seat structure above, and directed toward, the support tube for forcing the seat support shackle into firm engagement with the support tube.

Abstract: A passenger seat structure for vehicles which comprises an underframe having at least one seat with a back fastened thereto. The underframe includes a substantially horizontal supporting member which has only that end thereof which is adjacent one side wall of the vehicle by a support connected to the floor of the vehicle. The horizontal supporting member which may be hairpin-shaped has its individual legs interconnected and has one end of a reinforcement connected to the bottom side of the supporting member while the other end of the reinforcement member is connected to the support which latter is connected to the vehicle floor.
