  • Publication number: 20110105661
Abstract: Inverse emulsions have a discontinuous internal phase of an aqueous solution of water soluble polymer and a continuous external phase of a stabilised oil system of an oil and an oligomeric stabiliser including urethane and/or urea linkages and residues of a fatty acid dimer and/or trimer component. The stabiliser is particularly either dimer based with units of the formula (I): —(X)-(D)-(X)CO—NH—R1— (I); where -(D)- is a difunctional dimer residue; each X is —O— or —NH—; and R1 is C1 to C60 hydrocarbylene, or trimer based with units of the formula (III): —(X?)2-(T)-(X?)CO—NH—R10— (III) where -(T)- is a trifunctional trimer residue; each X? is —O— or —NH—; and R10 is as defined for R1.

  • Patent number: 5011883
Abstract: Stabilized aqueous polymer latex compositions comprising: (A) a polymeric latex particle; (B) a protective colloid; and (C) a polyoxyalkylene-containing alkyd resin which is the reaction product of (i) at least one polyoxyalkylene, (ii) at least one polyol; (iii) at least one polycarboxylic acid anhydride; and (iv) at least one monocarboxylic acid are disclosed. Also detailed is a method of producing such a stabilized polymer latex composition.
