  • Patent number: 10372987
Abstract: A system for observing agricultural samples includes a chassis suspended on an elevated cable or rail, an actuator disposed within the chassis for moving the chassis forward and backward along the elevated cable or rail, a camera mounted on or within the chassis and configured to acquire image data of an area below the elevated cable or rail including an agricultural sample, and a processor disposed within the chassis for receiving image data from the camera, autonomously controlling the actuator to move the chassis along the elevated cable or rail, and assessing a condition of the agricultural sample from the received image data.

  • Publication number: 20170148110
Abstract: An open-pit mining system, method of forecasting weather and a computer program product therefor. A dispatching system models local pit conditions and generates a dispatching plan for mining equipment for each mining shift. A forecasting system generates local forecasts. Individual pieces of mining equipment include wiper frequency sensors sensing wiper use whenever equipment wipers are engaged. The wiper frequency sensors forward wiper use data to the forecasting system, which determines pit rainfall from collected sensed wiper frequency. The dispatching system adjusts the dispatching plan to compensate for rainfall effects.

  • Publication number: 20140134716
Abstract: A tissue culture device includes a container having one or more upstanding walls extending upwardly from a floor. The floor of the container has a media having nutrients or growth substances therein. A plurality of plant tissues are within the container compartment and are placed upon a screen between the plant tissues and the media. The screen is tamped downwardly onto the media so that the plant tissues can get nutrients from the media, and so that waste products are transferred into the media. The screen is also removable through the open end of the container so as to remove all of the plurality of the plant tissues from the container at once. The plant tissue device can then be placed in another container having any cultured media as needed for the correct maintenance, propagation and development of plant tissue in culture.

  • Patent number: 8334426
Abstract: Methods are provided for transforming isolated, immature maize embryos and for producing transgenic maize plants. The methods additionally comprise identifying or selecting transformed cells and regenerating such cells into transformed maize plants.

  • Publication number: 20110162112
Abstract: The methods provided relate to efficient methods for transforming isolated, immature maize embryos and for producing transgenic maize plantlets. The time required for the production of the transgenic plantlets and subsequent plants is significantly decreased compared to conventional methods. The methods also relate to decreasing the selection time of transgenic events and regenerating a transgenic maize plantlet from transgenic somatic embryos from the events in a plant cell culture vessel that allows for root formation and plantlet elongation in the same plant cell culture vessel.

  • Patent number: 7928287
Abstract: The present invention provides for rapid and large scale evaluation of expression of, or function of, nucleotide sequences in plants. The invention comprises three specific components which provide for fast and large scale evaluation of nucleotide sequences. The first component includes delivery in either a single event a library of different engineered vectors or a single engineered vector for a single target nucleotide sequence comprising sequences the function of which is desired to be known in plant cells. Surprisingly, applicants have discovered that, the introduction of multiple vectors to plant cells predominantly results in individual transgenic plants which contain only a single transformation event. The second feature of the invention involves a highly transformable, fast cycling and/or miniature size plant and the final step involves mass scale analysis of T0 plants for various phenotypes and plasmid rescue to identify the nucleotide sequence present in a particular phenotype.
