Patent number: 11100103Abstract: The subject technology generates a materialized view over a share object, the share object including data associated with a first account. The subject technology merges the materialized view and the share object. The subject technology determines that the materialized view is stale with respect to the share object based at least in part on the merging. The subject technology generates a refreshed materialized view with respect to the share object in response to the determining. The subject technology shares the refreshed materialized view to a second account in response to a request from the second account.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2020Date of Patent: August 24, 2021Assignee: Snowflake Inc.Inventors: Prasanna Rajaperumal, Thierry Cruanes, Allison Waingold Lee, Igor Demura, Jiaqi Yan, Benoit Dageville

Patent number: 11055142Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure may provide dynamic and fair assignment techniques for allocating resources on a demand basis. Assignment control may be separated into at least two components: a local component and a global component. Each component may have an active dialog with each other; the dialog may include two aspects: 1) a demand for computing resources, and 2) a total allowed number of computing resources. The global component may allocate resources from a pool of resources to different local components, and the local components in turn may assign their allocated resources to local competing requests. The allocation may also be throttled or limited at various levels.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2020Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignee: Snowflake Inc.Inventors: Thierry Cruanes, Igor Demura, Varun Ganesh, Prasanna Rajaperumal, Libo Wang, Jiaqi Yan

Using the one or more processors, merging the materialized view and the share object. Using the one or more processors, updating the data associated with the first account subsequent to generating the materialized view. Using the one or more processors, generating a refreshed materialized view with respect to the share object in response to detecting the updated data. Using the one or more processors, sharing the refreshed materialized view to a second account in response to a request from the second account.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2020Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: Snowflake Inc.Inventors: Prasanna Rajaperumal, Thierry Cruanes, Allison Waingold Lee, Igor Demura, Jiaqi Yan, Benoit Dageville

Patent number: 10891288Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for generating and updating cross-account materialized views in multiple tenant database systems. A method includes defining a share object in a first account wherein the share object includes data associated with the first account. The method includes granting cross-account access rights to the share object to a second account such that the second account has access to the share object without copying the share object. The method includes generating a materialized view over the share object. The method includes updating the data associated with the first account. The method includes identifying whether the materialized view is stale with respect to the share object by merging the materialized view and the share object.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2020Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: Snowflake Inc.Inventors: Prasanna Rajaperumal, Thierry Cruanes, Allison Waingold Lee, Igor Demura, Jiaqi Yan, Benoit Dageville

Publication number: 20200379995Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for sharing materialized views in multiple tenant database systems. A method includes defining a materialized view over a source table that is associated with a first account of a multiple tenant database. The method includes defining cross-account access rights to the materialized view to a second account such that that second account can read the materialized view without copying the materialized view. The method includes modifying the source table for the materialized view. The method includes identifying whether the materialized view is stale with respect to the source table by merging the materialized view and the source table.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 26, 2020Publication date: December 3, 2020Inventors: Prasanna Rajaperumal, Thierry Cruanes, Allison Waingold Lee, Igor Demura, Jiaqi Yan, Benoit Dageville

Patent number: 9361719Abstract: To place labels on a digital map, indications of dimensions and positions for candidate labels for placement within a bounded region of a digital map are received. The bounded region is partitioned into bands parallel to an axis. For each of the bands, a respective subset of the candidate labels is identified, such that such that each label in the subset is at least partially disposed in the band. Non-overlapping labels are iteratively selected from the subset based at least on one of the edges of the labels in the subset perpendicular to the axis. A result set if generated using the respective selections of non-overlapping labels for the bands. The labels in the result set are placed on the digital map.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2014Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: GOOGLE INC.Inventor: Igor Demura
