  • Patent number: 9231401
Abstract: A wireless communication system base station (20) includes a base station transceiver (26) that has at least one operative component (32) for facilitating wireless communications. A current limiting device (36) includes at least one field effect transistor for selectively controlling current flow to a capacitive stability device (34) associated with at least one of the operative components (32). In the disclosed example, the current limiting device (36) is in series with the capacitive stability device (34) but in parallel with the operative component (32).

  • Publication number: 20070069613
Abstract: A base station cabinet assembly (20) includes a first cabinet housing (22). A second cabinet housing (40) generally surrounds and covers over the first cabinet housing (22). In a disclosed example, the first cabinet housing (22) comprises a metal cabinet typically useful for interior base station installations. The second cabinet housing (40) in one example comprises plastic and protects the first cabinet portion (22) from environmental contamination such that the entire cabinet assembly may be used for exterior installations.

  • Publication number: 20070072598
Abstract: A wireless communication system (20) includes the capability of controlling when a media recording device such as a camera (32) associated with a mobile station (30) may be used. In a disclosed example, if the mobile station (30) is in a restricted area where audio recordings, photographs or video are not permitted, a controller (34) automatically disables the media recording device (32) responsive to an appropriate signal from a wireless network (22) or base station (24). In one example, a controller (34) automatically marks a file containing media data if that data was acquired in a restricted area. In a disclosed example, the wireless communication network (22) prevents forwarding any media files corresponding to media acquired in a restricted area.

  • Publication number: 20030216153
Abstract: A wireless base station enclosure. The wireless base station enclosure houses at least one circuit board for generating heat by means of an inner housing and an outer sheath. The inner housing protects the circuit board from environmental conditions and may be formed from a polymer-based plastic and have a blow molded shape. The outer sheath protects the circuit board from impact conditions and may comprise metal, alloy or a composite material. The wireless base station enclosure also includes a passive cooling system for convection cooling the enclosure. The convection cooling system has an air induction gap formed between the outer sheath and the inner housing, as well as one or more holes in the outer sheath to enable heat within the air induction gap to escape.

  • Patent number: 6058816
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for supporting a beam having a longitudinal axis. The apparatus includes a clamping assembly that surrounds and grips a portion of the beam. The clamping assembly is relatively compliant to deflections of the beam in at least one direction transverse to the axis, but relatively resistant to axial displacements of the beam and to torsional rotations of the beam about the axis. The apparatus further includes at least one actuator situated externally to the beam and arranged to urge the beam in the compliant direction or directions.

  • Patent number: 4016385
Abstract: A transfer switch to selectively transfer an electrical load from one high voltage source to another includes a shaft connected to a handle. Spaced close to opposite ends of the shaft are two circular slotted cams. Cam followers connected to opposite ends of a follower bar are inserted in the cam slot. The follower bars connected to the cam followers are connected to vacuum interrupter contacts (mechanical vacuum relays). The transfer switch is constructed so that as the cam is rotated the contacts connecting one high voltage source to the electrical load are closed and as the cam is continued to be rotated the contactors of the previously connected high voltage supply are subsequently released.
