Abstract: An injector includes a body, an injection needle movably mounted to the body and a pathway within the body sized for receiving either of a first cartridge or a differently dimensioned second cartridge therein. The pathway includes a coupler mounted at a distal end that is engageable with the first cartridge or the second cartridge for to fluidly connect with the injection needle. At least two adapter collars are mounted within the pathway. A first adapter collar is configured to receive either one of the two cartridges therethrough upon insertion into the pathway, and configured to engage a portion of the first cartridge to stabilize the first cartridge within the pathway. A second adapter collar is also configured to receive either one of the two cartridges therethrough upon insertion into the pathway, but configured to engage a portion of the second cartridge to stabilize the second cartridge within the pathway.

Abstract: A drive system for a drug delivery device is described. The drive system comprises an axial drive component configured to drive advancement of a stopper sealing a container; a variable rate drive drives advancement of the axial drive component and a controller controls the variable rate drive to deliver a first volume of medicament at a first rate, and a second volume of medicament at a second rate. The controller is configured to: optionally, identify a start point for delivery of medicament from the container, the start point being identified as completion of a predefined preparatory event; drive the variable rate drive at a first speed during a first phase from the identified start point to deliver the first volume of medicament at the first rate; drive the variable rate drive at a second speed during a second phase to deliver the second volume of medicament at the second rate.

Abstract: An independent mounting module is receivable within a housing of an injector configured to dispense a substance from a cartridge insertable into the housing through an injection needle of the injector. The mounting module includes a first mount and a second mount. The first mount is configured to receive a driving assembly engageable with the cartridge to expel the substance therefrom. The first mount is selectively securable to the injector housing and has a cantilevered mounting arm extending therefrom. The second mount is configured to receive an actuator operatively connectable with the driving assembly. The second mount is attached to the cantilevered mounting arm and suspended therefrom, thereby being supported by the cantilevered mounting arm.
