  • Publication number: 20250147711
Abstract: A method provides techniques for display configuration determination for connected display devices. The method includes connecting, by a processor of an electronic device, to an external display. The method further includes determining a display size for the external display, and determining a display category for the external display, based at least in part, on the display size. The method further includes configuring, based on the display category, content presented for consumption via the display, where at least one display characteristic of the content can be modified for optimal presentation on the display.

  • Patent number: 12282166
Abstract: An electronic device includes a communication device and one or more processors operable with the communication device. The one or more processors, in response to the communication device identifying a port establishing a display data channel, causing the communication device to transmit an extended display identification (EDID) extension or second-generation EDID file structure comprising a wearable glass projection device content rendering parameter, which can be expressed as an interpupillary distance.

  • Publication number: 20250085532
Abstract: An electronic device includes a wireless communication device, a non-transient memory device, and one or more processors operable with the wireless communication device and the non-transient memory device. The one or more processors identify a companion device electronically in communication with the wireless communication device as being a wearable glass projection device when a received extended display identification (EDID) extension(s) from the companion device include a non-zero field of view, pixel density, and/or interpupillary distance value. The one or more processors can render content for the wearable glass projection device as a function of the non-zero field of view, pixel density, and/or interpupillary distance value, and can optionally apply a rendering adjustment to the content as a function of optical data associated with a user of the electronic device stored in the non-transient memory device.

  • Publication number: 20240380937
Abstract: An electronic device includes a communication device and a user interface. The communication device detects establishment of wireless electrical communication channel to a content presentation companion device. One or more processors of the electronic device, optionally in response to a gaming application operating on the one or more processors, causes the communication device to query the content presentation companion device to determine whether the content presentation companion device supports a gaming mode of operation.

  • Publication number: 20240380938
Abstract: An electronic device includes a wireless communication device, a user interface, and one or more processors operable with the wireless communication device and the user interface. The one or more processors identify operating modes of a content presentation companion device with which the wireless communication device is electrically communicating, determine whether the operating modes include a gaming mode of operation, and enable the gaming mode of operation or cause the user interface to present indicia indicating the content presentation companion device supports the gaming mode of operation when an operating context of the electronic device matches a predefined criterion.

  • Patent number: 12032871
Abstract: When a speaker device is within communication range of an electronic device, various rules are used to determine whether to connect to or route audio data to the speaker device. For example, the electronic device may prompt the user to choose whether to connect to a wireless speaker device. In situations in which the user rejects connecting to the wireless speaker device, subsequent attempts by the speaker device to connect to the electronic device are also rejected or ignored without further prompting the user, or the wireless speaker device may be connected to the electronic device but audio data not routed to the wireless speaker device. By way of another example, the electronic device may determine whether to route audio data to a wireless speaker device based on signal strength and link quality metrics for wireless communication between the electronic device and one or more wireless speaker devices.

  • Patent number: 11050935
Abstract: An electronic device includes a first device housing and a second device housing, with a hinge coupling the first device housing to the second device housing such that the first device housing is pivotable about the hinge relative to the second device housing between a closed position and an axially displaced open position. At least one inertial motion unit is situated in the first device housing and determines an orientation of the first device housing in three-dimensional space, delivering the same in an orientation determination signal. An inertial motion unit adjustment engine, activated by at least one predefined condition of electronic device, can apply at least one correction factor to the orientation determination signal when activated to create a modified orientation determination signal.

  • Patent number: 10026962
Abstract: A silicon-based anode comprises an alginate-containing binder. The many carboxy groups of alginate bind to a surface of silicon, creating strong, rigid hydrogen bonds that withstand battery cycling. The alginate-containing binder provides good performance to the anode by (1) improving the capacity of the anode in comparison to other commercially-available binders, (2) improving Columbonic efficiency during charging and discharging cycles, and (3) improving stability during charging and discharging cycles.

  • Publication number: 20090111528
Abstract: A mobile telephone is operable to alert a user of the mobile telephone to the presence of an active wireless audio interface during a telephone call. The telephone comprises a local audio interface, having a loudspeaker and microphone, a user activity detector operable to detect user interaction with the telephone if a wireless audio interface is active, and a processor, operable to cause an audible signal to be generated by the loudspeaker of the local audio interface if a wireless audio interface is active and user activity is detected by the user activity detector. User interaction with the telephone is monitored and an audible message is played through the local audio interface of the mobile telephone if user interaction with the mobile telephone is detected and a wireless audio interface is active. The audible message alerts the user to the presence of the active wireless audio interface.
