  • Patent number: 4558577
Abstract: The roll-forming machine includes a series of roll-forming stands for shaping a flat workpiece into a desired configuration, a device for monitoring the positioning of the workpiece at the entry side of the roll-forming machine, and a control unit for sending signals to each roll-forming stand to effect transverse movement of the forming members according to a predetermined roll-forming pattern. The roll-forming stand may have either driven contoured rolls or nondriven forming rollers.

  • Patent number: 4295353
Abstract: The mill stand comprises forming rolls, which have congruent forming elements, mounted on a stand frame member in such a way that one of the forming rolls is adapted for a vertical reverse motion. This forming roll is connected with a hydraulic cylinder provided with control means, interacting with a master device operatively connected with one of the forming rolls.

  • Patent number: 4292830
Abstract: A mill comprises at least one rolling stand with rolls having congruent lengthwise arranged forming elements, a drive stand and apparatus for locally heating a sheet metal at its portions to be transversely deformed or corrugated. The apparatus for locally heating the sheet metal includes inductors and a cam mechanism adapted to move said inductors up to and down from the sheet metal. The distributing shaft of the cam mechanism is connected through a transfer mechanism with one of the rolls of the rolling stand. The gear ratio of the transfer mechanism is equal to the number of the forming elements of one of the rolls of the rolling stand. The mill is simple in construction and easy to re-adjust when producing sheet panels with another spacing between the deformed portions or corrugations.

  • Patent number: 4292494
Abstract: An electric spark building-up of metal on the working surfaces of rolls is effected by applying a voltage from an unipolar current source to each roll being treated and to an electrode interacting with the surface of the rolls. Building up of metal is effected continuously in the course of operation, the rate of the metal build-up exceeding the rate of wear of the roll surface until a limit layer of metal is formed the thickness of which is maintained constant, thereby maintaining the initial shape of the roll working profile. The device for electric spark treatment is mounted on the rolling stand so that the electrodes and sliding contacts are in contact with the rolls, the electrodes interacting with the working surfaces of the rolls.
