Abstract: A method and device for manufacturing the covers of a book using a surface material and cover pieces glued to it. In order to glue the cover pieces to the surface material, a device equipped with a work table is used, on top of which the surface material is positioned. The cover pieces are glued to the surface material by supporting one end of them, in the initial stage, free of the glue surface with the aid of a shelf-like support piece and commencing gluing from a point farthest from the said end. Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for hot-gluing a bundle (2), particularly in a device that includes a glue reservoir (7) for storing glue that has been made fluid, a glue-spreading roller (6) for spreading the glue onto the spine surface of the bundle (2), press devices, (3, 4, 5, 21, 21?) for holding the bundle (2), and possible side-nip devices (16, 19, 20) for finishing the shape of the book or similar. The bundle (2), which is held between two symmetrically positioned press plates (21, 21?), is pressed with the glue-spreading roller (6) to bend or fan out the edge of the bundle (2) and to open a gap between the cover sheet (11) and the outermost sheet of the bundle.

Abstract: A method and a device for making book covers using surface material (1) and cover pieces (2, 3, 4) to be glued onto it. Cover pieces (2, 3, 4) arc positioned in the desired location in clamp (14, 15, 16), that can be rotated around axis (13), and the pieces are supported by means of stoppers (10, 11, 12) into the desired position. After this, the cover pieces are rotated around axis (13), while still in the clamp, onto the adhesive surface of surface material sheet (1), and are pressed onto it.
