  • Patent number: 7688697
Abstract: A high-density optical disc such as BD-RE (Blu-ray Disc Rewritable) or BD-ROM, and a recording/reproducing method thereof are disclosed. Diverse additional information such as disc reflectivity information, disc layer information or disc type information is efficiently recorded in a particular information field included in a data unit recorded on the burst cutting area of a high-density optical disc or a particular 1-byte address field included in an address unit recorded on the high-density optical disc so that it can be read when the high-density optical disc is loaded in an optical disc apparatus or when a data recording or reproducing operation for the high-density optical disc is carried out. Accordingly, it is possible to achieve optimal optical power control and automatic gain control or identification of a current position, while enabling a normal data recording or reproducing operation corresponding to the type of the optical disc.

  • Patent number: 7215622
Abstract: The present invention relates to method and apparatus of determining a recording location of a high-density recording medium. The present method determines a targeted recording location on a high-density rewritable or read-only recording medium based on successively-detected frame syncs or their combination that includes at least one frame sync written after the targeted recording location.

  • Publication number: 20070002714
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reproducing data from a recording medium is provided. The apparatus detects sync information of a recording unit recorded on a recording medium, and determines whether or not the detected sync information is identical to either normal sync information or pseudo sync information. If the detected sync information is identical to either the normal sync information or the pseudo sync information, the apparatus performs normal decoding of data in the recording unit. This increases the efficiency of data reproduction from the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 7058875
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of correcting data on a high-density recording medium such as a BD-ROM (Blu-ray ROM Disk) and a BD-RW (Blu-ray ReWritable Disk). In the present method, whether there is any error in a predetermined-sized LDC data block, which is included in a physical cluster, is determined based on if there is an error in sync data and BIS data neighboring the LDC data block, and, if determined to be erroneous, error correcting operation for the LDC block is conducted.

  • Publication number: 20040047262
Abstract: A high-density optical disc and a method for recording/reproducing data of the high-density optical disc are disclosed. Playback allowance codes adapted to determine region-based allowance of playback of data recorded on the optical disc are recorded in a part of user control data, having a predetermined recording size, recorded on the optical disc. When a data reproducing operation for the optical disc is carried out in an optical disc apparatus, a region-based playback allowance code corresponding to the intrinsic region identification information previously stored in the optical disc apparatus is detected from the user control data. The detected code is used as a de-scrambling key for an address unit number or user data to be read from the optical disc. Accordingly, it is possible to more efficiently achieve region-based protection of the copyright of a high-density optical disc.

  • Patent number: 5302776
Abstract: A method of automatically generating accompaniment chords in an electronic musical instrument system, whereby, as a melody is advanced, corresponding accompaniment chords can automatically be generated. The method comprises the steps of inputting the key of the tune to be played, drawing up fundamental chords to be used in the play tune according to the input tune key, inputting melody notes, comparing the input melody notes with the notes constituting the fundamental chords to select the highest priority one among the fundamental chords, and outputting the selected highest priority chord, together with the melody notes.
