  • Publication number: 20050095398
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide: an aqueous base paint which can form a good coating film under every possible coating environment without needing the humidity control; and a coated article with this paint. As a means of achieving this object, an aqueous base paint according to the present invention comprises as an essential component an aqueous hydrosol resin formed by hydrosolation of an aqueous acrylic resin having an acid value of 15 to 40 mgKOH/g, wherein the content of the aqueous hydrosol resin is not lower than 40 mass % in terms of resin solid component content relative to the entire resin solid components in the paint. In addition, a coated article according to the present invention is coated with the aforementioned aqueous base paint according to the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5030681
Abstract: Disclosed is a coating resin composition obtained by graft-polymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid to a chlorinated polyolefin in a solvent, esterifying all unsaturated carboxylic acid present in the reaction system, and mixing the obtained composition with a urethane prepolymer so that the weight ratio of the solids of the composition to the solids of the urethane prepolymer is in the range of from 90/10 to 10/90. This composition has a greatly improved gasoline resistance, smell generation is controlled and the storage stability at low temperature is high. The composition is effective as a general-purpose primer showing a high adhesion to inorganic materials, polar resins, non-polar resins, metals, and other materials.

  • Patent number: 4167597
Abstract: A process for extending the life of an antifouling paint film which comprises applying onto an antifouling paint film a coating of a water-permeable graft polymer prepared by polymerizing one or more vinyl monomers in the presence of a hydrophilic polymer. The coating of the water-permeable graft polymer has an excellent water-resistance and a proper water-permeability by which an antifouling agent contained in the antifouling paint film can be leached into sea water and moreover the leaching rate can be controlled. As a result, the antifouling property of the paint film is exhibited for a long period of time.
