    Abstract: A graphic image display system allows image data input through a data input apparatus to be displayed precisely. The graphic image display system is also able to display graphic images with satisfactorily high resolution. The graphic image display system according to the present invention comprises a scanning laser beam and a thermal liquid crystal cell. The system further includes a transparent data touch tablet secured to a display screen. Auxiliary laser detectors may be added for reading the image written in the liquid crystal cell. Preferably, a common laser optical system is used to generate the display image and to read the written image.

    Abstract: An image signal encoding system wherein image signal is directly taken in through video camera, changed to digital data, broken down into PDI basic patterns, and then converted into NAPLPS code automatically. The taken-in image signal is divided into a plurality of areas and the information amount of the image signal is reduced for adequate encoding after taking in the image signal. Usually "POLYGON" command is used as the NAPLPS code.
