  • Publication number: 20130089725
Abstract: Provided is a fabric for an airbag using a polyethylene terephthalate fiber, and particularly, to a fabric for an airbag having enhanced thermal resistance and instantaneous thermal strain rate, which is manufactured using a polyethylene terephthalate fiber for an airbag manufactured by controlling the strength and elongation of the polyethylene terephthalate fiber to replace a conventional fabric for an airbag using a yarn formed of nylon 66. The fabric for an airbag including a polyethylene terephthalate fiber manufactured by spinning a polyethylene terephthalate chip having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.8 to 1.3 dl/g has thermal resistances of 0.45 to 0.65 seconds at 450° C., and 0.75 to 1.0 seconds at 350° C.

  • Publication number: 20120263401
Abstract: A polyethylene terephthalate multifilament prepared by spinning polyethylene terephthalate chips having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.8 to 1.3 is provided. In order to improve the energy absorption capability of a textile for polyethylene terephthalate air bags, a textile for air bag having an improved rupture property at a welt portion in an air bag cushion deployment test can be prepared using a polyethylene terephthalate fiber by adjusting a strength/deformation curve of the polyethylene terephthalate fiber. Here, the polyethylene terephthalate fiber has a strength/deformation curve in which the polyethylene terephthalate fiber extends by less than 4% when subjected to an initial stress of 1.0 g/d at room temperature, extends by less than 12% subjected to a medium stress of 4.5 g/d and extends by 3% or more until fibers are cut at a tensile strength of at least 7.

  • Patent number: 7566496
Abstract: Disclosed is a 3-D crimp polyethylene terephthalate multifilament (BCF) having a stress-strain curve that (a) it elongates less than 5.0% when subjected to an initial stress of 1.0 g/d, (b) it has an initial modulus of 20 to 60 g/d, (c) it elongates at least 20% when subjected to a stress region of 1.0 to 2.5 g/d and (d) it elongates from a tensile strength of at least 3.0 g/d to the tensile strength at break. The BCF has improved physical properties such as excellent flame retardancy, high toughness, improved crimp uniformity and improved compressive elasticity modulus.

  • Publication number: 20030028980
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for dyeing a poly(trimethylene terephthalate) BCF yarn carpet continuously, in which an aqueous dyeing solution is applied to a continuously moving poly(trimethylene terephthalate) bulked continuous filament yarn carpet, and then the poly(trimethylene terephthalate) bulked continuous filament yarn carpet is steamed, rinsed, and dried, characterized in that the carpet is heat-set at 120 to 150° C. and then steamed with saturated steam at 102 to 150° C. for 5 to 10 min. The carpet may be dyed by using the aqueous dyeing solution of 45 to 90° C., or by using the aqueous dyeing solution comprising an anti-migration agent at room temperature as well as by heating the carpet with a dry heat of 140 to 300° C. for 30 to 60 sec after steaming the carpet and before rinsing it.
