  • Patent number: 9804767
Abstract: A computing device may instantiate a light dismiss manager for an application user interface. The light dismiss manager receives a request to register an event pass area from a rendered user interface surface of the application user interface and receives a notification that a new light dismiss user interface surface is to be opened in the application user interface. The light dismiss manager determines a shape of a transparent blocking panel that excludes the event pass area. When the new light dismiss user interface surface is opened in the application user interface, the transparent blocking panel is rendered below the new light dismiss user interface surface. In response to an input event directed to a visible portion of the rendered user interface surface, the new light dismiss user interface is closed, and a command associated with the visible portion of the rendered user interface surface is executed.

  • Publication number: 20150378600
Abstract: A context menu in an application user interface displays a context indicator in response to user interaction that places an insertion pointer or selects content in the application user interface. The context indicator is configured to invoke a floating menu having a set of contextual commands. The contextual commands of the floating menu include a parent command that is configured to open a submenu. The submenu includes a plurality of submenu commands associated with the parent command. The context menu displays a selectable button appended to the context indicator without presenting the underlying floating menu and submenu. The selectable button is configured to execute a predicted command that corresponds to one of a contextual command of the floating menu or a submenu command of the submenu.

  • Publication number: 20150378530
Abstract: An original command surface, such as a callout or pane, provides drill-in navigation functionality for reusing on-screen real estate when displaying a drilled-in command surface that presents additional commands or content related to a selected command button. Drill-in navigation can be effectuated by a command surface drill-in control having push and pop functionality that can be placed inside of various types of command surfaces. In response to execution of the command button, the push functionality pushes new content to a command surface stack that includes original content displayed by the original command surface. The drilled-in command surface displays the new content and a back button. In response to execution of the back button, the pop functionality removes the new content from the command surface stack causing the original content to be redisplayed by the original command surface.

  • Publication number: 20130283199
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer program products for facilitating access to an application or action directly from a lock screen user interface while interacting with a (mobile) computing device are disclosed. Such systems, methods and computer program products provide a multi-stage approach—a first user input-based component (e.g., touch, swipe, voice commands) within a security user interface (e.g., lock screen user interface) followed by a second application or action-based component (e.g., action shortcut and/or action) launched directly from the security user interface. That is, to deactivate the lock screen user interface, the user provides an authorized user input at the computing device. Second, to access the application or action, an application or action shortcut user interface is automatically displayed or the application or action is automatically launched; both directly from the lock screen user interface without requiring any additional user interaction.
