Patent number: 7805521Abstract: A network system that identifies a home network of a user by a network identification in an access request. When the access request is received in a network, the accessed network extracts a network identification from the access request and determines whether the access request is received from a subscriber or non-subscriber. If a non-subscriber, then a foreign network is identified and a network identification database is consulted to retrieve contact information for the foreign network. If the contact information is successfully retrieved, then the user may be routed to the foreign network (home network of the user). Otherwise (if the contact information is not in the network identification database), the user may be denied any access, and a purchase agreement for connect services may be offered.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2009Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Bryan L. Sullivan, Ileana A. Leuca

Publication number: 20100094943Abstract: A communications device is configured to report spam on demand. The spam is reported to a spam reporting service center in a communications network. As content is received by the device, the user of the device analyzes the content to determine if the content comprises spam. If the user determines that the content comprises spam, the user triggers the device to report the spam. The content can be of any type of content or combinations of content type, such as SMS, SMS, VM, email, VVM, VVM, and advertisements. The device comprises multiple clients configured to processes, respectively, each content type. In response to receiving the trigger, the appropriate client encapsulates the content. The encapsulated content is sent to a Report Spam client to generate a spam report. The spam report includes the encapsulated content and a disposition instruction.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 7, 2009Publication date: April 15, 2010Applicant: AT&T MOBILITY II LLCInventor: Ileana A. Patent number: 7613456Abstract: A method and system automatically activates a mobile station in a wireless communications network. The system includes an over the air activation function (OTAF) processor in the network that initiates an activation process in response to receiving a registration message from a mobile switching center serving the mobile station requesting the activation. Each mobile station has a unit of information stored into it at the time of its manufacture to enable it to request over the air activation. That unit of information is either the network routing address of the OTAF processor, or alternately, it is a value that is translatable into that address, either an OTAF ID number that is the same value for every mobile station or it is a sequentially serialized dummy value for the mobile identification number (a dummy MIN). When the mobile station is turned on for the first time in the network, it requests activation over the air by transmitting to the local mobile switching center a registration order.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2004Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Arun K. Chatterjee, Brian Kevin Daly, David William James Holmes, Ileana A. Leuca

Patent number: 7457613Abstract: A method for communicating on a wireless network includes receiving a mode signal from a network node. The mode signal represents an operational mode of the network node. The operational mode is defined by selecting from among a plurality of services at least one service whose reception over the wireless network is to be suspended or reinstated. Communication between the network node and the wireless network is subsequently conducted by taking into account the received mode signal. The network node may be a wireless communicator such as a cellular telephone or a fixed station device. Alternatively, the network node may be a wireless switch or a cellular base station.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1995Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLCInventors: Ileana A. Leuca, Michael Allen Raffel

Patent number: 7328248Abstract: A method and apparatus improve the user-friendliness of messaging systems. A message sender is requested to create a message ID which is used to identify a message being sent by the message sender. At some later time the message sender can query the message center using the sender generated message ID to ask the center to verify whether the message has either been sent to or received by the intended recipient.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2005Date of Patent: February 5, 2008Assignee: Cingular Wireless II, LLCInventors: David Aas, Ileana A. Patent number: 7209457Abstract: Methods and systems for routing information to a destination through a plurality of networks, wherein at least one of the networks is a packet network. The system comprises a routing processor for receiving a routing query signal, which specifies the destination to which the information will be routed and a memory for storing at least one characteristic of the destination. The processor determines a route for the transmission of the information based on the routing query and on the characteristics stored in the memory.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1997Date of Patent: April 24, 2007Assignee: Cingular Wireless II, L.L.C.Inventors: Ileana A. Patent number: 7035646Abstract: A mobile station communicates with both a cellular network, by which it is assigned a mobile identification number, and to a cordless cellular base station utilizing the same cellular frequency range and communications protocol. The cordless cellular base station is preferably connected to a public switched telephone network and is assigned a landline number. The cordless cellular base station acts as a conduit between the mobile station and the public switched telephone network. When the mobile station comes within range of a cordless cellular base station, it deregisters automatically from the cellular network and register with the cordless cellular base station. Once the mobile station is communicating with the cordless cellular base station, the cordless cellular base station communicates with the cellular network to instruct the cellular network to route all calls for mobile identification number to the cordless cellular base station's landline number.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2003Date of Patent: April 25, 2006Assignee: Cingular Wireless II, LLCInventors: Michael A. Publication number: 20040203346Abstract: A system and method for allowing a mobile telephone or mobile terminal to interact with its wireless telephone/data service, including conventional 2G and 3G systems (hereinafter the “wireless network”), and also to interact with local-area services such as WLAN, BlueTooth, and personal area networks, and to communicate with and use systems and peripherals available on those networks. Since the mobile terminal is a trusted device on the wireless network, it also then acts as a gateway to allow other local-area services and devices to connect and communicate with the wireless network.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2002Publication date: October 14, 2004Inventors: John Myhre, Venson Shaw, David Holmes, David K. Publication number: 20040203759Abstract: A network includes user information comprising terminal capabilities and readiness information for a terminal device. A network element receives the terminal capabilities and readiness information from the terminal device and communicates the terminal capabilities and readiness information such that it is received and stored. The information is accessed to set media delivery parameters for the terminal device.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2003Publication date: October 14, 2004Inventors: Venson M. Shaw, Ileana A.
