  • Publication number: 20210282929
Abstract: A method is described for use with a heart of a subject, the heart having a valve and an atrium upstream of the valve. The method includes transluminally advancing multiple tissue anchors to the atrium; and securing an elongate contraction member at least partly around an annulus of the valve by anchoring the tissue anchors to the annulus, such that the tissue anchors are distributed along the elongate contraction member. The method further includes subsequently contracting the annulus by applying tension the elongate contraction member, such that a radiopaque indicator that is disposed within the heart and that is coupled to the contraction member undergoes a conformational change in response to the tension. The conformational change of the radiopaque indicator within the heart is observed, and the tension is adjusted responsively to the observed conformational change. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Patent number: 11065122
Abstract: A prosthetic valve leaflet is placed across a bar, and the bar is positioned such that the leaflet drapes over the bar and blocks a beam of light emitted by a light source. While the leaflet remains draped over the bar, the bar is elevated at least until the leaflet stops blocking the beam. An elevation of the bar from the beam at which the leaflet stopped blocking the beam is identified. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Publication number: 20210212827
Abstract: An implant, disposed within a catheter, comprises a ring, anchors, and adjustment elements. The ring comprises struts arranged in a pattern of alternating peaks and troughs. Each strut has a first end-portion and a second end-portion. Each peak is defined by convergence of adjacent first end-portions disposed at an angle with respect to each other, and each trough is defined by convergence of adjacent second end-portions. Each of the anchors has a longitudinal axis, is coupled to the ring at a respective trough, and is configured to be driven along the longitudinal axis with respect to the trough and into tissue of the heart. Each of the adjustment elements is configured to adjust an angular disposition between a respective pair of the struts. A first adjustment element is coupled to its pair, and a second adjustment element is coupled to its pair distal to the first adjustment element.

  • Publication number: 20210196461
Abstract: A delivery tool includes a nosepiece that is fixed to a shaft, and distal to an implant, and an expandable element proximal to the nosepiece. Maximally-expanded, the expandable element (i) has an expanded external diameter at its widest part that is smaller than the expanded internal diameter of a lumen of the frame of the implant, (ii) tapers proximally away from the widest part and from the nosepiece, and (iii) is dimensioned to slide proximally through the lumen of the implant in its expanded state, between leaflets of the implant, and out of the lumen. When non-expanded, the widest part of the expandable element has a non-expanded external diameter that is smaller than the expanded external diameter of the expandable element. In a compressed state of the implant a portion of the expandable element is disposed within the lumen of the frame. Other applications are also described.
