  • Patent number: 8112047
Abstract: An RF transmitter includes a Cartesian to polar conversion section, a PLL, a DAC module, a mixing module, and a PA module. The Cartesian to polar conversion section converts a Cartesian based symbol stream into a polar based symbol stream. The PLL generates an oscillation when the RF transmitter is in a Cartesian mode or a phase modulated oscillation based on phase modulation information of the polar based symbol stream when the RF transmitter is in a polar mode. The mixing module mixes an analog Cartesian based signal with a local oscillation to produce a Cartesian based up converted signal when the RF transmitter is in the Cartesian mode and mixes an analog amplitude signal with a phase modulated local oscillation to produce a polar based up converted signal when the RF transmitter is in the polar mode.

  • Patent number: 7869782
Abstract: A local oscillator (LO) signal generator that has a reference phase-locked loop (PLL), a receiver LO PLL and a transmitter LO PLL. A reference PLL is coupled to receive a reference clock input and to generate a reference PLL signal at its output, which then drives a receiver PLL and a transmitter PLL. The receiver PLL is coupled to receive the reference PLL signal and to use the reference PLL signal as its reference input to generate a receiver LO signal at its output. The transmitter PLL is coupled to receive the reference PLL signal and to use the reference PLL signal as its reference input to generate a transmitter LO signal at its output.

  • Publication number: 20100048196
Abstract: Methods and systems for a variable system on demand are disclosed. Aspects of the method may include configuring one or more filters in a wireless transmitter and/or receiver for a desired band and standard. The presence of a blocker signal in a receiver may be known and/or determined and the receiver may be configured for mitigating the blocker signal. A desired received signal strength indicator may be compared to a wideband received signal strength indicator. Gain levels may be configured in the receiver based on the comparison. Linearity of the receiver may be configured for blocker signal mitigation. The filters may include baseband filters and/or may be at an output of the receiver. The filters may include a plurality of stages, with one or more of the stages bypassed for filter configuring, and may include a mixer as an input. Capacitors and/or resistors may be configured in the filters.

  • Publication number: 20090116510
Abstract: A high frequency (HF) communication device includes an antenna structure, an integrated circuit (IC), and an off-chip duplexer. The IC includes a receiver section and a transmitter section. The receiver section is operable in a receive portion of a first frequency band to support multiple communication protocols and converts a filtered inbound HF signal into a down converted inbound signal in accordance with the multiple communication protocols. The transmitter section is operable in a transmit portion of the first frequency band to support the multiple communication protocols, converts an outbound signal into a first up converted signal when a first one of the multiple communication protocols is active, and converts the outbound signal into a second up converted signal when a second one of the multiple communication protocols is active.

  • Patent number: 6144257
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bus control buffer amplifier. The output terminal is associated with a first pull-down N-channel MOS transistor and with a second pull-up N-channel MOS transistor. The first N-channel MOS transistor is directly controlled by an input signal. The second MOS transistor is an N-channel transistor, and its gate is controlled by a third pull-down N-channel MOS transistor directly controlled by the input signal, and by a fourth pull-up N-channel MOS transistor, which is controlled by the inverted input signal. The fourth N-channel MOS transistor has a very abrupt drain-substrate junction.
