  • Patent number: 5507692
Abstract: A Coupling for coupling non-aligned rotating parts is provided with driving-side and driven side coupling halves and an intermediate coupling member including separable parts. The intermediate coupling member is connected with the driving-side coupling half through a first pair of mutually centro-symmetcially arranged links and is connected with the driven side coupling half through a second pair of mutually centro-symmetrically arranged links. In order to facilitate dismantling of the coupling, the intermediate coupling member (10) is composed of two arcuate intermediate coupling member halves (20,22), each of which extends through more than 180.degree., such that each intermediate member half defines a lateral opening (32), which permits lateral removal of the intermediate member half (20,22) from a shaft passing centrally through the coupling, which are axially offset with respect to each other, and which are angularly offset by 180.degree. with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4897073
Abstract: A shaft coupling is disclosed which permits an angle between two coupled rotating elements. A coupling half is adapted to be connected to each of the elements. Intermediate coupling members are arranged between the coupling halves. These intermediate coupling members are connected through resilient joints to a first coupling half and, also to the second coupling half. Each of the intermediate coupling members directly connected to the first coupling half through a first pair of diametrically opposite resilient joints are also connected in an angularly offset manner to the second coupling half through a second pair of diametrically opposite resilient joints.

  • Patent number: 4588388
Abstract: The invention relates to a homokinetic shaft coupling which permits an offset angular disposition and, if need be, a radial and/or an axial offset, between the two parts to be coupled. For this purpose, at least one radially-extending intermediary member is provided between the two coupling halves which is coupled on both diametrically opposite ends with the two coupling halves by guides which generally are disposed in a circumferential direction. The guides are universally mounted on the two coupling halves, as well as on the intermediary member on pins which are disposed in axial direction, axially aligned with one another. If two or more intermediary members are provided, they may be coupled with a universal joint for the purpose of generally effecting a centering with respect to each other.

  • Patent number: 4460345
Abstract: The invention concerns a shaft coupling between a section rotating about an input axis and a section rotating about an output axis which permits an angle of flexure between input axis and output axis, incorporating: a first coupling half which is fastenable to the section rotating about the input axis, a second coupling half fastenable to the section rotating about the output axis and a number of flexible connecting elements which are arranged in a fashion so as to permit transmission of torsional moment between the first coupling half and the second coupling half.

  • Patent number: 4307585
Abstract: An elastic coupling comprises an outer ring and a hub. A plurality of radially extending stacks of leaf springs are attached to the outer ring and engage axially extending recesses in the hub. Each leaf spring comprises a set of radially extending strips in axially adjacent coplanar arrangement, namely of one or more central strips and axially outer strips on both sides of the central strips and having smaller width than the central strips. Intermediate pieces are provided between the leaf springs along the inner surface of the outer ring. Each intermediate piece includes a radially outer surface. A radially extending slot disposed in each intermediate piece communicates with the radially outer surface thereby dividing a radially outer part of the intermediate piece into first and second portions on either side of the radially extending slot. An axially extending conical bore is disposed in each intermediate piece and communicates with the radially extending slot.

  • Patent number: 4246767
Abstract: An improved coupling for the vibration-dampening transmission of torques is provided, which includes inner and outer annular coupling members with a resiliently deformable intermediate member arranged between the coupling members. The coupling includes connection means comprising flexible elements attached to the coupling members and extending around the intermediate member so that the intermediate member is resiliently deformed by compressive loading with relative angular movement of the coupling members. The coupling members, intermediate member, and connection means are so arranged and constructed that the intermediate member may be removed without dismantling the coupling members.

  • Patent number: 4224807
Abstract: An elastic coupling comprises an outer ring and a hub. A plurality of radially extending stacks of leaf springs are attached to the outer ring and engage axially extending recesses in the hub. Each leaf spring comprises a set of radially extending axially adjacent coplanar strips in arrangement, namely of one or more central strips and axially outer strips on both sides of the central strips and having smaller width than the central strips. A continuous thin and flexible sheet metal plate covers the various strips and closes the gaps therebetween. Intermediate pieces are provided between the leaf springs along the inner surface of the outer ring. The cavity defined by outer ring, hub and cover plates on each end of the outer ring is sealed and filled with damping liquid. Sealing ledges are provided between the intermediate pieces and the hub to subdivide the cavity into chambers which are, in turn, subdivided by the leaf springs. Connecting passages with restrictors interconnect the chambers formed.

  • Patent number: 4164877
Abstract: A coupling for the vibration-damping transmission of torques, comprising an inner coupling member, which is provided with a substantially radial flange, and an annular outer coupling member, which surrounds the inner coupling member substantially concentrically. An annular toroidal compression cushion of elastomeric material, which is U-shaped in longitudinal section is connected to the outer coupling member along its outer edge and to the flange of the inner coupling member along its inner edge. An annular chamber is defined inside the compression cushion. A plurality of non-extensible ropes, which are each connected to the outer and to the inner coupling members, in uniform distribution along the periphery of the coupling members, are arranged substantially in longitudinal planes around the annular toroidal compression cushion.

  • Patent number: 4040270
Abstract: Various embodiments of couplings are described which comprise two main coupling members and two intermediate coupling members. The main coupling members are adapted to be mounted on shafts which are not necessarily in alignment. The intermediate coupling members are rotatable with respect to each other and each is connected by links to each of the main coupling members.
