Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of compressing or decompressing a signaling message in a packet data network, wherein a parameter information is provided in a header portion of a protocol message of the packet data network. The parameter information specifies at least one processing detail of a compression or decompression mechanism and is forwarded together with the protocol message through the packet data network to a compression or decompression function of the packet data network. The compression or decompression mechanism at the compression or decompression function is then set in accordance with the parameter information. Thereby, a better compression of the first or first few messages can be achieved, as the parameter information is directly available.

Abstract: In a method of performing a network survey for a radio telecommunications network, signals from a location system external to the network are received for determining the location of the network survey device. The network survey device is located at a first location. Signals from a first base station of the network are received at the first location by the means of the network survey device, thereby measuring the synchronization of the first base station relative to a reference time-frame determined from the location system. The network survey device is moved to a second location. Signals from the first base station are received at the second location by the means of a network survey device, thereby measuring the synchronization of the first base station. The results of the measurements are compared with pre-determined network management criteria. Based upon the result of the comparison, the configuration of the network is modified.
