Abstract: A method for association biasing at a mobile device in a heterogeneous network (HetNet) is disclosed. The method can include the mobile device receiving coordination set information from a macro node in the HetNet. The coordination set information can include at least one low power node (LPN) identifier of at least one LPN. The mobile device can receive a request from the macro node to apply a specified reference signal (RS) biasing. The mobile device can apply the specified RS biasing to an LPN RS measurement derived from a LPN RS received from an LPN having an LPN identifier in the received coordination set information. The mobile device can associate the mobile device with the LPN when the LPN RS measurement with the specified RS biasing exceeds an association threshold.

  • Publication number: 20140092787
Abstract: Technology for periodic channel state information (CSI) reporting is disclosed. One method can include a user equipment (UE) identifying a configured CSI reporting instance for a secondary cell to report the periodic CSI to a node based on a CSI reporting configuration of the secondary cell. The UE can determine that the configured CSI reporting instance of the secondary cell used to report the periodic CSI does not correspond with an uplink (UL) subframe of a primary cell. The UE can transmit the periodic CSI report for the secondary cell, to the node, using a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) on the secondary cell when the periodic CSI reporting instance for the secondary cell does not correspond with the UL subframe of the primary cell and an UL-SCH (Uplink Shared Channel) is available in a subframe that corresponds to the periodic CSI reporting instance of the secondary cell.

  • Publication number: 20140092878
Abstract: Embodiments of providing enhanced interference measurements for CSI feedback are generally described herein. In some embodiments, CSI-IM resources are used by UE to perform interference measurements. The serving cell determines a hopping pattern for varying a position of the determined CSI-IM resources in subframes transmitted to the served UE. The determined CSI-IM resources and the determined CSI-IM resources hopping pattern are transmitted to the served UE. The serving node transmits a zero-power (ZP) CSI-RS. The serving node receives an interference measurement from the served UE based on CSI-IM and ZP CSI-RS provided to the served UE from the serving cell. Collisions between the CSI-IM of the serving node and CSI-IM of the non-serving nodes are minimized by the determined CSI-IM resources hopping pattern.

  • Publication number: 20140086221
Abstract: Technology for adjusting a receiver timing of a wireless device in a Coordinated MultiPoint (CoMP) system is disclosed. One method can include the wireless device receiving a plurality of node specific reference signals (RSs) from a plurality of cooperating nodes in a coordination set of the CoMP system. The coordination set includes at least two cooperating nodes. The wireless device can estimate a composite received RS timing from a plurality of received RS timings generated from the plurality of node specific RSs. The received RS timings represent timings from the at least two cooperating nodes. The wireless device can adjust the receiver timing based on the composite received RS timing. A node specific RS can include a channel-state information reference signal (CSI-RS).

  • Publication number: 20140036796
Abstract: Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP) involves multiple transmission points or cells coordinating their individual transmissions so that a target user equipment (LTE) experiences enhanced signal reception and/or reduced interference. In order to optimally implement downlink CoMP, a serving cell needs to obtain channel state information (CSI) for the downlink channels from the multiple transmission points to the UE. This disclosure deals with radio resource control (RRC) signaling for configuring the UE to obtain and report CSI for those downlink channels.

  • Publication number: 20140022988
Abstract: User Equipment (UE) and methods for antenna port quasi co-location signaling in coordinated multi-point (CoMP) operations are generally described herein. In some embodiments, one or more downlink channels are at least partially offloaded from a serving Evolved Node-B (eNB) to one or more neighbor eNBs. The UE may receive signaling from the serving eNB to indicate a reference signal of a neighbor eNB to use for estimation of one or more large-scale physical-layer parameters associated with the one or more downlink channels provided by one of more of the neighbor eNB. The UE may estimate the one or more large-scale physical-layer parameters based on receipt of the indicated reference signal from the neighbor and serving eNBs. The UE may also apply the estimated one or more large-scale physical-layer parameters for processing the one or more downlink channels from the neighbor and serving eNBs.

  • Publication number: 20140003270
Abstract: Technology is discussed for mitigating interference in a wireless communication environment where adjacent cells can have asynchronous Time Division Duplexing configurations. Measurements can be taken at an illuminated evolved Node B (eNodeB) of DownLink (DL) transmissions from a transmit eNodeB. These measurements can be relayed to the transmit eNodeB over a backhaul link and used to make scheduling, transmission power, and/or beam forming decisions to reduce the potential for DL interference. To reduce UpLink (UL) interference, sub-frame specific measurements can be requested by a transmit eNodeB of a User Equipment (UE) that would receive DL transmission from the transmit eNodeB to detect interference from any UEs performing UL transmission to an adjacent eNodeB. The interference measurements can be used by the transmit eNodeB to make scheduling determinations to mitigate the interference.

  • Publication number: 20130286867
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure describe techniques and configurations for handling interference measurements in a wireless communication network. An apparatus may include computer-readable media having instructions and processors coupled with the computer-readable media and configured to execute the instructions to identify, for a serving eNB, a neighboring eNB for which signal interference measurements are to be performed by one or more wireless devices served by the serving eNB, and request that the neighboring eNB transmit typical interference signals within data units which are configured for, and may or may not have, a scheduled physical downlink shared channel transmission. The wireless devices may be configured to perform the signal interference measurements based at least in part on the typical interference signals, which may include non-zero-power signals or zero-power signals. Other embodiments may be described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20130244709
Abstract: Technology is discussed for extending frequency and time based approaches, such as Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC) and enhanced ICIC (eICIC), to interference mitigation for clusters within a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) of transmission points with a common transmission point identity. Multiple transmission power messages correlated to different transmission point characteristics can be configured among multiple transmission points sharing the same transmission point identity. These multiple transmission power messages can be used to coordinate transmissions from adjacent transmission points on differing frequencies. Additionally, new sets of reference signals can be configured to correlate to different transmission point characteristics. These new, correlated reference signals can be used to decouple measurements used to provide feedback to one set of transmission points from reference signals transmitted by another set of transmission points with the same transmission point identity.
