  • Publication number: 20140295229
Abstract: An end cap assembly for an electrochemical cell having an end cap, a current collector, and a seal. The end cap has a top surface and a bottom surface. The current collector has a columnar body with a head at one end thereof. The seal has a central boss with an opening through which the current collector is inserted. The seal also has a peripheral edge and a connecting part connecting the central boss with the peripheral edge. The connecting part of the seal has a top surface and a bottom surface. The central boss has a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface of the central boss faces the bottom surface of the end cap and the bottom surface of the central boss does not extend below the bottom surface of the connecting part. The current collector is positioned within the opening of the central boss so that the head of the current collector does not touch the top surface of the central boss thus forming a gap from about 0.01 mm to about 0.

  • Patent number: 6610353
Abstract: A spray method of applying liquid adhesive to surfaces of components of an electrochemical cell. The adhesive is applied by spraying through a nozzle, preferably activated by a piezoelectric transducer. The nozzle can be an elongated resilient tube terminating in an outlet opening. The adhesive is preferably sprayed in a pulsed stream of droplets. The liquid adhesive is desirably dispensed in fine droplets at a rate of between about 500 and 5000 droplets per second. The method is effective in applying adhesive to narrow width or difficult to reach surfaces of cell components in a precise, consistent and reproducible manner. In a specific application the adhesive can be applied to the narrow recessed step surrounding the terminal portion of the cathode casing of a zinc/air button cell. In such application the adhesive provides a tight seal between the cathode casing and cathode assembly, thereby preventing leakage of electrolyte from the cell.

  • Patent number: 5771592
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of maintaining a cover on the razor head of a wet shave razor. Such a cover is used to prevent damage to the cutting edge of the razor and to prevent accidental contact with the cutting edge when the razor is not in use. The present invention is also directed to a razor unit having a cover which is semi-permanently affixed to the razor head via a protective seal. The cover is affixed to the razor head during manufacture in a position such that it covers the cutting edges of the blades. Preferably, the cover is affixed through the use of an adhesive strip or strips which are attached to the cover and the razor head. The user must manually remove or break the adhesive strip in order to remove the cover to expose the cutting edge and begin shaving.
