  • Publication number: 20240134490
Abstract: Interpolation electrode patterning for capacitive-grid touch sensor is provided herein. Provided is a device that includes multiple column electrodes that include a first column electrode divided into a plurality of first column sub-electrodes and at least a second column electrode divided into a plurality of second column sub-electrodes. The first column electrode and the second column electrode are adjacent column electrodes. Further, first column sub-electrodes of the plurality of first column sub-electrodes are interleaved with second column sub-electrodes of the plurality of second column sub-electrodes in a first direction. A first layer of the device comprises the multiple column electrodes and a second layer of the device comprises the multiple row electrodes.

  • Patent number: 11879798
Abstract: A perforated support layer that facilitates static and dynamic bending is provided herein. A device can comprise a device chassis, a flexible display panel, and a support layer sandwiched between the device chassis and the flexible display panel. The support layer can comprise a set of perforations formed in a bend region of the support layer. Also provided is a method that can comprise forming relief cuts in a bend region of a support layer. The method also can comprise bonding a first side of the support layer to a device chassis and bonding a second side of the support layer to a flexible display panel.

  • Patent number: 8766925
Abstract: An apparatus for providing input to a processor includes a sensor pad having a surface and a sensor array for sensing pressure at the surface and producing signals corresponding to the pressure at the surface. The sensor array having columns and rows of electrodes that are covered with resistive material which fills in the spaces between the electrodes and acts as a linear resistor between the electrodes and measures pressure on the pad surface between the electrodes. The apparatus includes an interface in contact with the sensor pad and in communication with the sensor array which couples to the processor to communicate the signals to the processor. A method for providing input to a processor includes the steps of sensing pressure with a sensor pad having a surface and a sensor array for sensing the pressure at the surface. There is the step of producing signals corresponding to the pressure at the surface with the sensor array.

  • Publication number: 20060287140
Abstract: A system and appertaining method are described to detect whether a projectile impact occurs on one side of a boundary line or the other. The system utilize force sensing resistor-based sensors that may be configured in sections or groups and connected to a control system with a display. An impact classification system is provided for distinguishing between various events, including a footstep, ball impact and tennis racquet contact. A sensor monitoring system is provided for determining the health of sensors and provding an error indication if sensor problems exist. A service detection system is provided when the system is used for tennis that permits activation of selected groups of sensors and deactivation of others.
