  • Patent number: 6020668
Abstract: A brush holder assembly for mounting on an electric machine casing. The brush holder assembly includes a brush, a brush guide that supports and guides the brush for travel, a spring for biasing the brush in a direction toward a commutator, and an electric insulator mounting for mounting the brush guide on a casing. The electric insulator mounting has electric insulator elements containing grooves engaging the side edges of the brush guide to support the brush guide and the brush in spaced relation to a casing when the brush holder assembly is mounted thereon. The brush guide has at least one wiring tab. Several forms for attaching the insulator elements to the casing are disclosed including threaded fasteners; integral grommet formations of the insulator elements; and the insulator elements being integral formations of the casing.

  • Patent number: 5773907
Abstract: A brush holder embodies certain generic features that render it suitable for use in numerous brush card assemblies. The brush holder has sidewalls that provide guidance of an associated brush, and integral locators for locating an associated spring strip for urging the brush toward a commutator. A brush holder may be formed singly, or multiple brush holders may be integrally formed and joined by an integral bus bar.

  • Patent number: 5689148
Abstract: A multi-pole, multi-speed brush holder assembly is created by joining a first speed brush holder assembly and a second speed brush holder assembly together, back-to-back, with an apertured spacer sandwiched between them. A plurality of brush holders are disposed on the cards' front faces and spaced circumferentially around a central aperture of the respective card. Brushes are guided by the brush holders and spring-biased toward the respective aperture for engaging a respective commutator of a motor armature. On each card, a respective first electric conductor segment is disposed flat against the card's back face and electrically connects the brush of a first of the card's brush holders with the brush of a second of the card's brush holders. On each card, a respective second electric conductor segment is disposed flat against the card's back face to electrically connect the brush of a respective third of the card's brush holders with the brush of a respective fourth of the card's brush holders.

  • Patent number: 4207669
Abstract: A device for manufacturing and inserting single-turn coils into the magnetic core slots of electrical machines comprises a mechanism for cutting off pieces of a wire conductor, a mechanism for bending the wire and shaping a loop, at least one mechanism for retaining and orienting coils made of concentrically arranged external and internal cylinders capable of rotating with respect to each other and having slots for accommodating the coils, said mechanism being made in the form of a detachable satellite with elements for fixing its position with respect to the working members of said mechanisms, a mechanism for moving apart the coils, a mechanism for transferring the set of coils, a mechanism for returning the cylinder to their initial position, a storing element, mechanisms for pressing-in the set of coils and for moving apart the ends of the coils at the commutator side, and transport mechanisms. The device can be used, for example, for making the armatures of automobile starters.
