  • Patent number: 7964721
Abstract: A mercury selective fluorescent chemosensor for detecting mercury ions by a compound represented by formula 1 and a novel fluorescent sensitive compound prepared by introducing two aminopyrene functions as a fluorescent sensitive moiety into a binding site of the compound of formula 1 is used for selectively detecting mercury ions are provided. The mercury selective fluorescent sensitive chemosensor is a switch type chemosensor having ON-OFF-type Hg2+-selective fluorescence quenching behavior and is not affected by other coexistent metal ions. Changes in fluorescence of the compounds of formula 1 were analyzed by ratiometric approach using monomer and excimer emissions of the pyrene fluorophore to selectively signal the concentration of mercury ions. The chemosensor can detect mercury ions in a micromolar unit even in a solution including an excess of water. Accordingly, the mercury selective fluorescent chemosensor for detecting mercury ions can be used effectively in environmental and medical applications.

  • Patent number: 7738716
Abstract: Provided is an encoding method capable of reducing a blocking phenomenon that occurs when moving-images are encoded and decoded. The method includes: performing a first encoding operation on an input image using a first quantization coefficient; generating a reconstructed image of the encoded image; calculating a difference between corresponding partial images of the reconstructed image and the input image; and performing a second encoding operation on the calculated difference using a second quantization coefficient smaller than the first quantization coefficient. Using the second encoded difference, a decoding unit can reconstruct an image of a block boundary portion more elaborately with a small number of bits, thereby significantly reducing the blocking phenomenon in the decoding operation.

  • Publication number: 20090273655
Abstract: A replaceable ink reservoir adapted to an inkjet print system is provided. Since the inkjet print system of the conventional arts drives an air pump to inject air into the ink reservoir to discharge the ink stored in the ink storage pack to a printer cartridge, serious noise may be generated when the air pump is driven. In addition, in order to discharge the ink through the injection of the air, the ink reservoir should be one integrated body having a hermetically sealed structure, therefore, a user cannot visually check an ink storage level in the ink storage pack from the exterior of the ink reservoir. Further, since a nozzle connecting pipe is always connected to an ink outlet port connected to a front end of the ink storage pack, it is difficult to uniformly maintain discharge pressure of the ink, thereby causing an error image to be formed on a recording medium.
