Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to a mucoadhesive nanoparticle delivery system. The nanoparticles are formed from amphiphilic macromolecules conjugated to a mucosal targeting moiety in such a manner that the surface of the nanoparticle is coated with the targeting moiety. The surface density of the targeting moiety can be tuned for adjustable targeting of the nanoparticles to a mucosal site without substantially compromising the stability of the particles. The particles were found to have high loading efficiency and sustained release properties at the mucosal site. The present disclosure also relates to polymers and macromolecules useful in the preparation of the mucoadhesive nanoparticles, as well as compositions, methods, commercial packages, kits and uses related thereto.

  • Publication number: 20180159516
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to the design of a high-speed frequency doubler circuit. During operation, the circuit uses a transformer-based balun to convert a single-ended input signal into a differential signal, wherein the transformer-based balun includes a transformer with a primary coil, which receives the single-ended input signal, and a secondary coil, which produces the differential signal. The transformer also includes a central compensation capacitor coupled between a center tap of the secondary coil and ground, wherein the central compensation capacitor acts to suppress common-mode components in the differential signal. Next, the circuit uses a pseudo-differential amplifier to convert the differential signal into a single-ended output signal, which has double the frequency of the single-ended input signal.

  • Publication number: 20180159963
Abstract: A computer device and a method for reading or writing data by a computer device are provided. In the computer device, a central processing unit (CPU) is connected to a cloud controller using a double data rate (DDR) interface. Because the DDR interface has a high data transmission rate, interruption of CPU can be avoided. In addition, the CPU converts a read or write operation request into a control command and writes the control command into a transmission queue in the cloud controller. Because the cloud controller performs a read operation or a write operation on a network device according to operation information in the control command, after writing the control command into the transmission queue, the CPU does not need to wait for an operation performed by the cloud controller and can continue to perform other processes.

  • Publication number: 20180157539
Abstract: A type of a request that is currently being processed at a system is determined. A distribution is selected from a set of processing time distributions, the distribution forming a model that is applicable to the type. A threshold point is computed for the model. A processing time that exceeds a threshold point processing time is regarded as exhibiting tail latency. Tail latency includes a delay in processing of the request due to a reason other than a utilization of a resource of the system exceeding a threshold utilization and a size of a queue in the system exceeding a threshold size. An evaluation is made that the request will experience tail latency during processing at the system and the processing of the request at the system is aborted. The request is offloaded for processing at a peer system in a load-balanced group of systems.

  • Publication number: 20180157746
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for semantic analysis and use of song lyrics in a media content environment. Semantic analysis is used to identify persons, events, themes, stories, or other meaningful information within a plurality of songs. For each song, a story graph is generated which describes a narrative within that song's lyrics. The story graph is then used to determine a feature vector associated with the song's narrative. In response to receiving an input vector, for example as a search input for a particular song track, the input vector can be matched against feature vectors of the plurality of songs, to determine appropriate tracks. Example use cases include the selection and delivery of media content in response to input searches for songs of a particular nature, or the recommendation or suggestion of media content in social messaging or other environments.

  • Publication number: 20180159922
Abstract: A detection is made that a first handshake packet has been received from a data processing system at a first system. The first system participates in a load-balanced group managed by a load-balancer. A value is obtained of a metric configured in the first system. from a set of delay functions, a delay function that corresponds to the metric is selected. Using the value of the metric in the selected delay function, a delay period is computed. A transmission of a second handshake packet is delayed for at least the delay period. An intentionally delayed transmission of the second handshake packet is caused after the delay period from the first system to the data processing system.

  • Publication number: 20180159775
Abstract: A determination is made at an application executing in conjunction with a switch that a request packet sent to a virtualized computing entity (VCE) connected to the switch should be offloaded to a second VCE. A destination of the request packet is changed from the VCE to the second VCE, to form a first modified request packet. An evaluation is made whether a response packet from the second VCE, which is responsive to the request packet, is usable in the data communication with a sender of the request packet. When the evaluating is affirmative, the first modified request packet is caused to be transmitted from the switch to the second VCE.
