Patent number: 10469208Abstract: Methods and apparatus utilize hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmissions and retransmissions that are usable on multiple carriers, i.e. joint HARQ processes. For example, a downlink (DL) shared channel transmission of a joint HARQ process is received on one of the carriers. A first part of an identity of the joint HARQ process is determined by using HARQ process identity data received on a shared control channel. A second part of the joint HARQ process identity is determined using additional information. The joint HARQ process identity is then determined by combining the first part and the second part. A WTRU is provided that is configured to receive the DL shared channel and to make the aforementioned determinations. A variety of other methods and apparatus configurations are disclosed for utilizing joint HARQ processes, in particular in the context of DC-HSDPA.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2016Date of Patent: November 5, 2019Assignee: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Philip J. Pietraski, Benoit Pelletier, Diana Pani, Paul Marinier, In H. Kim, Christopher R. Cave, Jean-Louis Gauvreau

Patent number: 10342010Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting and releasing resources for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and/or Node B. The WTRU may transmit a channel acquisition request to the Node B and receive a resource allocation from the Node B. The resource allocation may include a common resource. The WTRU may release the common resource. The release may be based on one or more conditions. The channel acquisition request or the resource allocation may include information related to one or more channels or resources.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2017Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Benoit Pelletier, Eldad M. Zeira, Christopher R. Cave, Paul Marinier, Vincent Roy, In H. Kim

Publication number: 20180035395Abstract: A method and apparatus for radio link synchronization and power control in CELL_FACH state and idle mode are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) transmits a random access channel (RACH) preamble and receives an acquisition indicator acknowledging the RACH preamble via an acquisition indicator channel (AICH) and an index to an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) resource. The WTRU determines a start of an E-DCH frame. An F-DPCH timing offset is defined with respect to one of the RACH access slot and an AICH access slot carrying the acquisition indicator. A relative F-DPCH timing offset may be signaled to the WTRU and the WTRU may determine a start of an E-DCH frame based on the relative F-DPCH timing offset and timing of an AICH access slot including the acquisition indicator. The WTRU may transmit a dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH) power control preamble before starting an E-DCH transmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2017Publication date: February 1, 2018Applicant: InterDigital Patent Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Benoit Pelletier, Paul Marinier, Christopher R. Cave, In H. Kim, Rocco Di Girolamo

Publication number: 20170332251Abstract: A method and apparatus are used for detecting a radio link (RL) failure and a post verification process. A quality of a downlink fractional dedicated physical channel (F-DPCH) is monitored once a transmission on an enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) has begun. It is determined whether the quality of the downlink F-DPCH is below a predefined threshold. If the quality is below the predefined threshold, then an occurrence of an RL failure is declared and a transmission over the E-DCH in a cell forward access channel (CELL_FACH) state is terminated. In a case of the post verification failure, E-DCH resources are released.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 2, 2017Publication date: November 16, 2017Applicant: InterDigital Patent Holdings, IncInventors: Christopher R. Cave, In H. Kim, Benoit Pelletier, Paul Marinier, Diana Pani
