    Abstract: Provided is an installation structure for installing control rod drive mechanisms and cable sealing units in a nuclear reactor pressure vessel. The installation structure includes: a sealing flange having a ring shape and being hermetically coupled to an upper pressure vessel and a lower pressure vessel of the nuclear reactor pressure vessel; a cylindrical tube extending downward vertically from an internal edge of the sealing flange; and a support plate provided horizontally to block a lower end portion of the cylindrical tube. A plurality of mounting holes that penetrate through the sealing flange horizontally are arranged in the sealing flange with a predetermined interval therebetween along a circumferential direction, the cable sealing units are inserted and mounted in the plurality of mounting holes, and the control rod drive mechanisms are installed on the support plate to be supported.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a single shoe-type brake apparatus. The single shoe-type brake apparatus includes: an integrated sideways ā€œUā€-shaped single brake shoe configured to form an open ring shape, to be integrated into a single body, and to have a separation region on one side thereof so that it is subjected to external force in a direction where it is extended to both sides thereof; a cylinder installed in the separation region, and configured to provide the external force; and a friction material coupled to the outer circumferential surface of the brake shoe, and installed to selectively come into contact with a brake drum as the brake shoe is extended. The friction coefficient of the friction material is considerably lower than that of a common brake friction material, and a brake factor is almost identical to that of a brake apparatus having two shoes.

    Abstract: A washing machine and a method of controlling the same are disclosed. The amount of laundry that is introduced into the washing machine is measured using gravity and inertia applied during the operation of the motor, whereby it is possible to precisely calculate the amount of laundry and to minimize the effects of the initial position of the laundry and the movement of the laundry. In addition, the current value of the motor that is operated is used to measure the amount of laundry without a sensor. Furthermore, the amount of laundry is measured at the rotational speed of the motor at which the laundry clings to the drum, whereby it is possible to minimize an error due to the movement of the laundry to thus improve accuracy. Moreover, it is possible to determine the amount of laundry within a short time. Consequently, it is easy to commence the spin-drying operation, thereby reducing washing time and saving energy.

    Abstract: Voltage reference circuits configured to generate a voltage reference with a programmable temperature slope are disclosed. By combining and programming a PTAT (Proportional To Absolute Temperature) voltage generation circuit and a CTAT (Complementary To Absolute Temperature) voltage generation circuit, desired temperature slope for the voltage reference is obtained. To adjust both temperature slope and offset of the voltage reference, the voltage reference circuits include a bandgap reference circuit. The bandgap reference circuit is used to create a temperature independent current, which is coupled to a programmable string of resistors and programmable string of MOSFETs to produce a desired temperature slope for the voltage reference. The desired offset of the voltage reference is obtained by the temperature-independent current into another string of programmable resistors. A circuit architecture and method to control the temperature slope and offset of the voltage reference independently is disclosed.
