The catalyst can significantly increase the reaction rate, thus allowing the reaction to be operated under very simple experimental conditions such as near atmospheric pressure, with higher reaction yields and higher purity of the products, and without by-products of aluminum metal and unreacted alkali or alkaline earth metals in products, making the handling of the products easier.
