  • Patent number: 8621063
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a Byebye message when an operation of a controlled device is abnormally terminated are provided. A new field is added to discovery and Event messages defined in the UPnP standard. These messages are exchanged to allow a control point to monitor the controlled device. When the operation of the controlled device is abnormally terminated, the control point monitoring the operation of the controlled device determines whether or not the operation of the controlled device is abnormally terminated according to the presence or absence of a response to a Subscription Renewal message. The control point multicasts the Byebye message over the network instead of the controlled device abnormally terminated. It is possible to notify all control points in a network that the operation of the controlled device is abnormally terminated without increasing the load on the network and compatibility problems with existing UPnP devices.

  • Patent number: 8238805
Abstract: An image forming apparatus and an auto color registration method thereof. The image forming apparatus performs an auto color registration (ACR) operation by excluding or minimizing the influence caused by variation in speed of a drive unit driving a transfer member. The image forming apparatus includes a controller, which prints a test pattern of each color according to a rotation period of the drive unit, and controls an operation for outputting an image in which each color registration error is corrected on the basis of the test pattern, such that a reliability of the ACR operation is increased and a quality of an image output from the image forming apparatus is also increased.

  • Patent number: 8219692
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for restoring a remote user interface (RUI) in a Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) environment. In the method, a client receiving an RUI from a server, requests that the state information of the RUI be saved. The method includes obtaining state information generated when the RUI is used, and requesting that the obtained state information be saved. Accordingly, it is possible to apply a method of storing and restoring state information of a remote user interface, in a UPnP environment, to an HTTP-based remote protocol model having stateless characteristics which do not allow state information of a remote user interface to be stored.
