  • Patent number: 8637103
Abstract: Described herein are methods for preparing isomaltooligosaccharides (“IMOs”) from a carbohydrate substrate and uses thereof. In the presence of a maltogenic enzyme and additional IMO precursors, an Aspergillus sp. invertase is capable of producing IMOs from a starch slurry. The ability of the invertase to function as a transglucosidase enzyme imparts a simultaneous mechanism for IMO saccharification.

  • Publication number: 20140018583
Abstract: Embodiments of the inventive concept provide a successive gas hydrate manufacturing method, without hydration after generating gas hydrate slurry, capable of operating with a higher conversion rate and relatively low hydrate generation pressure and reducing a product cost by decreasing the number of processing steps for removing heat of reaction, for which the total exothermic value downs due to no need of latent heat according to a phase change rather than the case of generating a gas hydrate directly from a water solution, as well as making gas diffusion easier during reaction of generation and maximizing a contact area between water and gas to increase a gas capture rate and shorten the total hydrate generation time.

  • Publication number: 20140016547
Abstract: The method performed in the terminal includes generating a random value for wireless channel access, receiving a competitive index indicating a channel competition state from an access point, and determining whether to attempt a wireless channel access based on a comparison result between the random value and the competitive index. Accordingly, in an environment in which a large number of wireless local area network (WLAN) terminals simultaneously attempt the wireless channel access, each terminal voluntarily restricts a wireless connection request in accordance with wireless channel environment information transmitted by an access point, that is, competitive indexes, and therefore wireless channel access competition may be alleviated, thereby improving a wireless connection speed of the terminal and reducing power consumption of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 8614452
Abstract: The light extraction efficiency of a typical light-emitting diode (LED) is improved by incorporating one-dimensional ZnO nanorods. The light extraction efficiency is improved about 31% due to the waveguide effect of ZnO sub-microrods, compared to an LED without the nanorods. Other shapes of ZnO microrods and nanorods are produced using a simple non-catalytic wet chemical growth method at a low temperature on an indium-tin-oxide (ITO) top contact layer with no seed layer. The crystal morphology of a needle-like or flat top hexagonal structure and the density and size of ZnO microrods and nanorods are easily modified by controlling the pH value and growth time. The waveguide phenomenon in each ZnO rod is observed using confocal scanning electroluminescence microscopy (CSEM) and micro-electroluminescence spectra (MES).
