  • Patent number: 4932464
Abstract: A combustion air heating system includes both an air heater for preheating the combustion air by heat exchange with flue gases and an air preheater for preheating the combustion air prior to entry into the air heater. The air preheater operates by heat exchange between the combustion air discharge from the air heater and a bypass stream of combustion air located upstream of the air preheater. The amount of combustion air flowing through the bypass duct is controlled so that the temperature in the air heater does not fall below the dew point of the acid gases present in the flue gas.

  • Patent number: 4913848
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for treating a first product which contains monobromopentaerythritol, dibromoneopentyl glycol and tribromoneopentyl alcohol to yield a second product having a dibromoneopentyl glycol content, on a weight percent basis, greater than that of the first product. The process features forming a stirrable mass from the first product and a solvent system in which, at a temperature within the range of from about 0.degree. C. to about 40.degree. C., the monobromopentaerythritol and the tribromoneopentyl alcohol are more soluble than the dibromoneopentyl glycol and in which at least 85% of the dibromoneopentyl glycol in the mass is insoluble; maintaining the reaction mass within the aforementioned temperature range to realize an insoluble portion and a solvent and solute portion; and separating the insoluble portion and the solvent and solute portion without substantial precipitation of the solute from the solvent and solute portion.

  • Patent number: 4902574
Abstract: Fluoroepoxy compounds are made by reacting a fluoroepoxy resin with an effective curing agent, such as an adduct amine, and, while the compound is sufficiently liquid to wet a fluoroplastic surface, it may be applied to a fluoroplastic adherend, such as a Teflon, to be employed as an adhesive, to form various fluoroplastic products, without requiring any surface treatment of the adherend. The compounds are intentionally formulated with high fluorine contents, normally above 46% by weight, preferably for bonding fluoroplastics with a high F-content, above 55% by weight.

  • Patent number: 4900579
Abstract: A process for applying and bonding a solid lubricant on a substrate whose surface has depressions and pores. The process comprises depositing fine solid lubricant particles on the surface of a substrate to be lubricated in excess of a quantity sufficient to fill essentially all depressions and pores on the substrate surface, and thereafter burnishing the substrate to distribute and bond the lubricant particles on the substrate. Such burnishing of the substrate can be accomplished during its moving contact with another substrate during intended use. Maintenance of lubricity can be accomplished by depositing additional lubricant particles on the substrate and thereafter burnishing, and can be performed while the substrate is in moving contact with another substrate whereby this moving contact performs the burnishing operation.

The collector comprises a cylindrical chamber for receiving and storing a liquid sample. A tube has a first end which extends inside the chamber and is positioned and configured so that liquid flowing therefrom is angularly directed against the inside wall of the chamber to create a downwardly-directed spiral flow of liquid along the inside wall. The second end of the tube has attached thereto a valve housing having a flow control valve and a forward end to which a bored needle is releasably secured. The needle bore and the tube bore are aligned and are in communication when the valve is open.
