  • Patent number: 10956019
Abstract: Automatically alternating between input modes on a computing device based on a usage pattern is provided. A first input mode is initiated for interacting with content displayed on the computing device. An input corresponding to a second input mode on the computing is then detected. A transition is then made from the first input mode to the second input mode on the computing device. Upon the detecting a termination of the input on the displayed content the second input mode, a gradual transition is made from the second input mode to the first input mode based on a current sensor state of the computing device and a threshold.

  • Patent number: 9035880
Abstract: Controlling images at hand-held devices using sensor input, for example, as detected by one or more orientation sensors in a hand-held computing device is described. In various embodiments images are displayed at a hand-held computing device according to orientation sensor readings observed at the device and before user input is received at the images. For example, two or more images with different opacities are superimposed and the opacities differentially varied as the hand-held device is tilted. In another example images are placed in a 3D space which is rotated as the device is tilted. In another example, a video is played either forwards or backwards according to an orientation of the device. In various examples the images are displayed as part of a web page by using a template in the web page to control the display of images according to sensor readings.

  • Publication number: 20130091431
Abstract: A video previewing and selection system may allow a user to filter and select video clips based on metadata associated with the video clips, including metadata that defines when certain people are shown in the clips. A set of video sequences may be analyzed to extract existing metadata and present the metadata in a user interface. A user may select various metadata which may be used to filter the selections using logical AND and OR combinations. The user interface may allow a user to view the clips, as well as select clips for further editing by a video editor.

  • Patent number: 8208399
Abstract: A rating mechanism may calculate a rating based on a user's effort and duration of input to an input mechanism. The more effort and time a user exerts, the more extreme the rating. In one embodiment, a mobile telephone may have a wheel, slider, or other mechanism that may change a rating based on how fast and how long a user may activate the input mechanism. In another embodiment, the rating may be based on how furiously an accelerometer within a device is activated, such as by shaking the device repeatedly.
