  • Patent number: 7534602
Abstract: Promoters and usage thereof. Two promoters, acuF and hsp promoters, comprise the nucleotide sequences of SEQ ID NO: 1 and 2, respectively.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 9, 2004
Date of Patent: May 19, 2009
Assignee: Food Industry Research & Development Institute
    Inventors: I-Ching Chen, En-Hui Kuo, Yi-Ju Liu, Ing-Er Hwang, Li-Ling Liaw, Gwo-Fang Yuan
  • Patent number: 7482157
Abstract: Cholesterol inhibitor produced by Monascus, monacolin k, is a secondary metabolite of polyketides. The invention provides probes specific to monacolin k biosynthesis gene cluster. BAC clones having putative monacolin k gene cluster were screened from BAC (bacterial artificial chromosome) library, and sequencing and annotation were performed on these clones. The results show that 2 polyketide synthase (PKS) genes and 7 regulatory genes related to monacolin k synthesis were obtained. Full-length cDNAs of these genes were then obtained by RT-PCR and cloned to expression vectors for the expression of these genes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 23, 2004
Date of Patent: January 27, 2009
Assignee: Food Industry Research & Development Institute
    Inventors: Yi-Pei Chen, Li-Ling Liaw, Chun-Lin Wang, Chung-Tsai Lee, Ing-Er Hwang, Ching-Ping Tseng, Gwo-Fang Yuan
  • Patent number: 7067304
Abstract: The invention relates to Monascus purpureus mutants, which are useful in the preparation of fermentation products having blood pressure lowering activity with a very low amount of citrinin. The invention also provides a process for preparing the fermentation products having blood pressure lowering activity using the Monascus purpureus mutants, and the use of the fermentation products in lowering blood pressure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 29, 2003
Date of Patent: June 27, 2006
Assignee: Food Industry Research and Development Institute
    Inventors: Yen-Lin Chen, Ing-Er Hwang, Ming-Chin Lin, Chien-Cho Chen, Gwo-Fung Yuan
