Patent number: 8180091Abstract: A headphone that is especially useful to test the efficacy of an earplug installed in an ear canal, by using the headphone to produce sound and by sensing sound pressure at the ear drum despite the presence of the earplug. Applicant uses the speaker (42) in the headphone to produce a smooth and reasonably “flat” frequency response by reversing the speaker orientation. In the reversed orientation, the front side of the speaker diaphragm (50) faces into the headphone cup and away from the ear. The rear side of the speaker that has a circle of holes (52), faces toward the ear. The headphone frame has a cylindrical passage (40) for carrying sound to the person's ear, which has an outer end (78) that is tapered to encompass the holes in the speaker back side (44). The axial distance (L) from the speaker rear side to the ear, is at least 0.6 inch to accommodate the protruding end of an earplug.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2007Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: Sperian Hearing Protection, LLC (Delaware Limited Liability Company)Inventors: W. Gary Sokolich, Stephen D. Gilder, Bradley K. Witt, Claes Ingemar Haglund

Patent number: 5121672Abstract: A method for carrying out shelling of a target with a plurality of ammunition units fired successively from a single barrel rapid-firing ordnance piece includes supplying data to a computer means regarding the target to be shelled, generating by the computer means in response to the input data, an output data for controlling at least one of the following: the ordnance piece and the flight parameters of the respective ammunition units. The controlling of the ordnance piece and the ammunition units during firing of the successive ammunition unit from the single barrel ordnance is coordinated for imparting to the ammunition units different flight times between the ordnance piece and the target selecting the different flight times such that the ammunition units reach the target at approximately the same time after the launch from the ordnance piece.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1990Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: Aktiebolaget BoforsInventor: Ingemar Haglund

Patent number: 4644867Abstract: A shell case comprising prefabricated fragments (4), preferably of a material with high density, and a supporting material which surrounds the fragments and together with these forms a connected shell which surrounds the explosive of the shell. The supporting material consists of a completely dense non-compressible material which is permanently connected with the pre-fabricated fragments, for instance a hardenable steel. The shell is preferably manufactured by a powder metallurgical procedure in which the supporting material in the form of a metal powder together with the pre-fabricated fragments (4) are pressed under high all-round pressure and high temperature into a dense compact jacket.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Aktiebolaget BoforsInventors: Lars Hellner, Ingemar Haglund, Torsten Ronn, Kjell Albrektsson

Patent number: 4592283Abstract: An explosive shell case of the kind in which fragments are produced by bursting of the case material into a number of small particles. The case material comprises a completely dense, non-compressible material which is made with embrittling zones (4) which when the shell bursts gives fragments of a predetermined shape. The case is preferably manufactured powder-metallurgically, the embrittling zones then being formed by filling at predetermined intervals with powder with the embrittling component. The case is then pressed under high all-round pressure and high temperature into a dense, compact jacket and is imparted its final properties through heat treatment.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1985Date of Patent: June 3, 1986Assignee: Aktiebolaget BoforsInventors: Lars Hellner, Ingemar Haglund, Torsten Ronn, Kjell Albrektsson
