    Abstract: A method and system enables a packet-switched data communication in a wireless communications system to be quickly and easily reestablished after interruption. The computer communications protocol that has been negotiated during the establishment of the packet-switched data communication may be saved upon interruption and later restored. In an exemplary embodiment, a wireless subscriber activates a call-waiting-type service along with an option to retain a packet-switched data communication. Thereafter, the subscriber may be engaged in a data communication on a packet data channel of the wireless communications system. Acceptance of a subsequent incoming, circuit-switched voice call causes the data packet session to be suspended, but the negotiated parameters of the computer communications protocol are saved. After the subscriber terminates the voice call, another data packet session is established with the saved parameters without needing to renegotiate the computer communications protocol parameters.

    Abstract: A device for measuring the rolled-up length of web forming a roll when a web break has occurred during formation of the roll employs a web break indicator to indicate a web break. Normal web length measuring is carried out by counting pulses from a pulse transducer driven by a roller turned by the moving web and this is stopped on web break. A calculation of the circumference of the web roll on the occasion of the web break is made with the further aid of a pulse transducer on the shaft of the web roll and a counter and logic unit. Too loosely wound web material is removed from the roll and the circumference of the roller decreases. After joining the web and renewed winding, a calculation of the roll circumference is continuously performed by means of the pulse transducers. When the circumference of the roll resumes the size it had at the moment the web break occurred, normal length measuring is automatically resumed.

    Abstract: A safety and test device for railway signalling systems comprising a calculating device or computer adapted to treat information signals, relating to prevailing speed and desired speed, and to activate a brake device if said treatment reveals that speed reduction is necessary. In order to control itself the computer is programmed to run through special test programs, suitably sections of the ordinary program with given start data, and at the end of each such test program generate a control word, specific for each test program and coming in a given sequence. A control unit connected between the computer and the brake device receives the control words generated by the computer and compares them with correct words stored in a memory and generates an output pulse, each time an incoming control word coincides with a correct control word stored in the memory.
