    Abstract: In an electrical continuous flow heater for an appliance such as a coffee machine, a tubular heater member has a jacket tube in heat conducting contact with a pipe for carrying the fluid to be heated, with the pipe and jacket tube disposed in horizontal side-by-side relationship. The jacket tube or the pipe, or both, have a wall thickness which varies over the periphery thereof, the thickest portion of the pipe wall being lowest in the horizontal position during use and the thickest portion of the jacket tube contacting the pipe. In one arrangement, the thickest portion of the tubular jacket and/or pipe is provided by a strip of sheet metal attached to such pipe or tubular jacket. In another arrangement, the pipe and jacket tube are constructed as a unitary extruded member.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger for use for example in a laundry dryer comprises a plurality of plates defining flow passages therebetween for a first heat exchange medium. Each plate is made up of a plurality of aluminum elements having mutually co-operating positive and negative profilings at their narrow sides, to fit snugly together. The plates are held at a spacing from each other in grooves in end wall members forming a holding assembly. A second heat exchange medium flows through the hollow interiors of the elements making up the plates. The hollow interiors have web portions therein, to enhance heat flow between the first and second heat exchange media.

    Abstract: A liquid heating apparatus comprises a container or vessel having disposed therein a tubular heater member which is bent in a double loop configuraton with a raised central portion thereof being welded or soldered in a strip configuration, having low thermal conductivity, that substantially bridges mutually spaced ends of such tubular heater member which are attached to a mounting plate supported by the container. A thermally actuated cut-out switch bears against the plate from the outside of the container and is adapted to respond in a sensitive fashion to heat transfer from the adjacent central portion of the tubular heater member in the event of thermal overloading or running dry of the tubular heater member.
